It really doesn't weigh that much. The mounting system appears (from looking at the APD website) to be the same as the Northern Diver/Metalsub bracket. I think the problems you'll have is fixing it to the frame. You could bolt the bracket with a plate at the back so it sandwiches the frame rails, or use jubilee clips, either of these methods could slip/move if knocked & could possibly squash the rails. Using these will widen the unit by around 2", & will probably add about a kilo to the weight (I could be wrong, I'm just guessing), which as I've mentioned before, rather defeats the object of having a lightweight frame if you're then going to load it with more unnecessary weight I personally would try & keep the cylinder located between the frame rails, it's the best way of keeping them in place. They'll add to the strength of the frame as an integral part of the whole unit, they can't 'twist' out very easily if knocked, & the only way they're going to move is either up or down. APD will make the cam bands to order, I know this because someone I know has recently purchased them & are using them on a DT box (same way of mounting the cylinders as the travel frame) without modifying the cam bands. If you're using standard cam bands then you'll need to modify the steel part of it, which has already been mentioned & is easy to do. AS has been mentioned you don't need the Velcro, & if the remaining strap is too long a pair of scissors is all that's needed to trim the end, just burn the freshly cut ends with a lighter to stop them fraying. You can tuck the end of the strap into the frame, to keep it looking nice If you're really bothered about the cylinder coming out, use Mark Chase's method of jubilee clips. Cheers Giles. |

| Custom Title Allowed! Current Rebreather/s: | Re: Travel frame Sharky The frame is designed to take the cylinders between the central tubes, thereby strengthening the assembly. You only need to hold the cylinder down when thightening, as otherwise you may bend the tubing a little. If you want to put a metalsub style pony attachment to it, I suggest that you weld a brace (in ascii-art) to the tubing in order to reinforce it, as there is no support anymore from the cylinders. +---+ +----+ | T | | T | +---------------------+ (t = tube) Regards Steven Seeing that ascii art doesn't work here (spaces get removed!) see screenshot.
