In simple words, Mike, it will be cold and wet and you definietly want to wear protection.
If you enjoy that let me know, I'll hook you up with an ex-g/f or two.

Hi Mike, have you ever used dry gloves before?
The reason i ask it because of the drawbacks of using them.
I have been ice diving, and i too started of with dry gloves, but ended up dropping them fairly soon. My personal preference is to use 5mm wet gloves. Depending on the dive, depth, duration and usability of my fingers i would either have gone with 5finger gloves or three finger gloves. But the 5 finger ones i have been using for dives up to 2.5hours in norway all last winter. The 3 finger ones was not used that much...

The drawback with drygloves is that it is very difficult to get them to seal 100% and they are easily punctured. I have been fixing and fixing so i just dropped it. You also need to have airflow from the drysuit into the gloves otherwise you do get a squeeze, and in case you get a leak i promise you, the water will find it way up your arm...
Also when you get a whole, your hand gets wet and it will not get warm, its not like neorene gloves, they actually provide some protection... The dry ones will either provide protection or they will actually help keeping you cold.
And its not a matter of if you get a whole, its more when you get a whole.
I got my first one on the first dive...
I saw some new drygloves from aqualand, i believe it was, that were some kind of neoprene dry gloves. If you oculd find those, i would get them instead.

good luck and write a report on the boris...

/Jonny
