The thread on heart attacks and the comment that Rebreather divers tend to be middle aged has got me rather interested in RB demographics. I'm going to be 29 in May so don't consider myself anywhere near middle aget yet but (appart from Beanie and Padowan) am I in the minority? Do people really buy their first unit when they are middle aged?

Lets have a quick poll to see:

I wish that between the ages of 18 and 22, instead of drinking £5K worth of student loans and gaining skills in speed and volume drinking ability, I'd started diving and bought my unit back then - I'd probably be quite handy on it by now!!

Open Water- 19 (1990)

Became fanatical about closed circuit about 2002.

Read everything known to man about-

Howard Hall, Richard Pyle, Bill Stone, Christina Young

Been reading and investing ever since.

Hopefully 2005 I will buy or build a unit. –age 34

In fact that is now my Resolution

Fanatic since...the previous live?!

OC around 20 then ...books...envy...curiosity...training...and finally Home Build at 34, CCR 35 and now (37) awaiting for a unit.

I would have spent my money on CCR many years ago.

In my case, I started diving OC in '72 in the Philippines, YBOD (nowBBOD) in '01. Geez, Stefan, would you stop being such a tight-wad and BUY THAT PRISM!!!
