OK, in that case, I think a club or co-op arrangement would work out quite nicely. Individuals could buy in with a "membership" fee (either one-time or a single renewable) and gain access to reservations for bottles and consumables. The fees would allow maintenance of and supply replenishment fairly easily. There would need to be someone responsible for accountingand/or admin/ reservations as well.I am looking to the rebreather community to help be design a program that we all can use. -H

I am happy to invest some time and cash to design a program and help with processes if we as a community under your direction (as yoru the man in the know!) can come up with a way of making it work. Now I am guessing we would need some things.... 1 - A Place to store stuff (guess this is inhand!) 2 - A Way to pay for tstuff / shipping etc 3 - A way to book stuff out 4 - someone to take the lead for each location... just floating a concept here - would it work that community members - bought into a 'club' type of enviroment that paid for the initial investment (or maybe we did it as part of trips) to get the base stuff at the destination. then we had an online booking / payment system for people to reserve and 'pay' (which would cover restocking charges only) for use of kit at a certain point in time...

I'd love to do it.Problems I see are. I don't get to go to most of these places with any regularity. If it was the Great Lakes. It would be great. But there I have easy access to stuff. Otherwise. I might be able to use it twice in 10 years. And having to pay $500 or so on shipping twice in 10 years. Or pay a fee every year that I might not ever use. I'll pay the $500. Kinda like timeshares. Great if you use them. But a waste if you don't. People who set up dive trips. Would be perfect for it. People who go on dive trips. I'm not so sure. If I could afford the time and money to fly off around the world 12 times a year. It would be outstanding. I would be more into a dive club that buy's property around the world for everyone to use. Lock up around 10 3l steels for Rebreather's and 10 AL40 and AL80's. Maybe a small compressor on site set up for continuos blending. You have to bring your own electronics for it. Small studios right on the beach. Ship in sorb regularly. 1 pallet a year. You pay for what you use. Then next year comes. New order with what money from what was used. Your monthly fee pay's for paying the house and the property mortgage. Something with 3 or 4 bedrooms and a large kitchen/living room. Bedrooms with 2 beds. So total it could sleep around 8. Maybe a zodiak with a motor on site for buzzing out to the reef. And a maid that comes in to clean once or twice a week. Belize would be perfect for this. $10,000 buy in and $300 a year dues. Just have to determine how many weeks you'd get. Should be able to get beach front lot and place built for $100,000. If not. Right across the street from the beech. And the reef is right off shore of san pedro. Lots of diving from the zodiak. If you want, pay for the big boat trips. Finance your $10,000 if ya want.Might groan about the $10,000. But, how much was that rebreather? And, it's forever. Till ya die. It would be your own timeshare. ![]() |
