Have you double checked the IP with another gauge ? I e-mailed a long time KISS user who had posted on the general subject to find out about the IP limit before I did it. I have only checked it with one gauge, but, then again, I was told it was possible to go there. Have you tried to go to 13.5? Anyway, there was another method to go to even higher IPs (spring replacement) posted on the "non-Jetsam-KISS" yahoo group, which seems to be gone lately (or at least doesn't appear as one of my yahoo groups anymore). |

No, I haven't tried yet.Quote: Anyway, there was another method to go to even higher IPs (spring replacement) Yes, the information came from a diver in Scandinavia. I should have that somewhere in my archive. It is capable to 20 bar IIRC.

Its like anything I guess, you have to toss up the properties etc and assess if they fit your diving. If you like electronic control etc then a meg may fit. Personally I prefer the simplicity of the KISS and dont dive below 100m (my unit was bought for caving, as a gas logistics tool). The meg looks a good enough CCR, although I'd love to know the latest on its CE status..... this always seems to take longer to get, no matter who the manufacturer is.

I talked to Leon couple days ago, and he said, that all Meg scrubbers (Standard, Radial, Prism, and ExtendAir) "smoked" the CE testing. Reportedly, the testers were quite impressed with how low the WOB on the units was. Also, you can always fly the unit manually (like a KISS) and have the electronics there as a parachute. That's how I do it. |

Plus I have a Classic and decided I don't really need a Meg. It looks like a nice Rebreather but the KISS meets my needs and until there's some real reason for me to go to a Meg (or Optima, or ???) I'll stick with keeping it simple. |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Re: Should I sell my KISS and buy a Meg? Both are terrific units. The compactness, lightweight and backmounted lungs of the CK are truly appreciated in those situations where you want to dive clean(er). When the dive includes more task loading I appreciate the alarms and redundancy of the Meg (HUD). Both are different philosophically animals doing the same job. In the end an Rebreather aficionado has more than one tool in their arsenal. Unit redundancy is an important option in remote and expensive expeditions. Nothing like blowing an expensive trip due to malfunctioning electronics. |

![]() | Re: Should I sell my KISS and buy a Meg? OK... since everyone is dying to get rid of their perfectly good Classic KISS'es... someone tell me why I shouldn't buy a used KISS as my first CCR... To be honest, the meg was 1st on my list but due to lack of Meg instructors in HK* and the lack of vacation time to commit to training overseas, I figure I'd be better off starting off with a manual CK to dip my feet into CCR's... *I think Leon told me there was one Meg instructor in Singapore... know of any others? |
