You must meant scrap value of plastic and Delrin since there hardly is any metal. Plus it would be cheaper too...

I love my Kiss, but that love will only get me to around 300'. I feel the need to go deeper.

That plastic and Delrin will cost you!

Actually 360ft+ on the standard orifice, but I will digress...

How deep have you been on it ?

I don't think mine will go that deep. May be some of the orifices are larger than others, but I have my IP set to 140psig which in turn gives me a flow of about .8lpm.

Re: Should I sell my KISS and buy a Meg?

I believe it all depends on the sort of diving you do; I have never been deeper than 75 meters on my classic Kiss in the UK and 85 meters in the Red Sea. In my opinion the kiss (sports & classic) is ideal down to 75 meters and most of my diving is in the 65 meters range. I know it can go deeper by adjusting the 02 flow rate via the inter stage pressure setting. I have had my classic for 2 ½ years and my sports for 5 months. My only grip with my classic is the handsets the older model with the A on the back but this has now been addressed with the new version. I cannot fully comment on them yet as I have only done a few dives with them but they are a big improvement. I would like to be able to convert my classic to a eCCR I love the look of the Heliox Drive Dive http://www.heliox.com/divedrive.html. and I would buy one tomorrow if you could change the setpoint (great price as well but then again so are the jetsam rebreathers)

So would I buy a Meg YES my ideal setup would be a Meg for deep dives (someday I would like to go deeper than 100 meters but don’t tell my wife ) and a sports kiss for the shallow ones

Louis

Except for the older units (can't remember the exact s/n when it changed), all of the later units (CK and SK) should have the smaller orifice (0.0035") so you should be able to adjust the Apeks first stage to slightly above 12 bar (the spring is solid at ~12.5 bar).

Based on the tolerances, you should be able to get to ~110-115m with less than 1 LPM.

Mine was done exactly as mentioned, so I know it works.

I didn't know that was possible since supposedly the spring is solid at 12.5 bar. Have you double checked the IP with another gauge ?
