| RBW Member | Who has been trained by Paul Neilson? I got a weird phone call tonight by a mate over seas who wants to do a CCR Inspiration training in the Phillipines. He has encountered an Australian over there called Paul Neilson. So far this guy has offered to have his first born child with him if he undergoes the training there..... but the question remains whether he has the runs on the board to teach... Does anyone know this instructor? any positives or negatives could be helpful. Thanks in advance. |

| Re: Who has been trained by Paul Neilson? Paul is an Outstanding diver. He trained many of my early Mark 15 customers, and I only heard accolades from his students. I spent time with Paul in Hong Kong, and his knowledge of CCR's was phenomenal - we even dove Edward Kuok's personal "Electrolung" after mixing up and making our own O2 Sensors. It was a very cool experience... I highly recommend Paul to anyone who wants an instructor who has a lot of in-water experience with a huge number of rigs. Kevin Juergensen Juergensen Marine, Inc. |

| Re: Who has been trained by Paul Neilson? I'll confirm what the others have already said, top bloke, taught me on both Inspo and MK15.5 in the late 90's. He had a dive shop (Mandarin Divers) in Hong Kong until recently, this he used as a base, although all the serious in water stuff was done in the Philippines (1.5 hr flight away) However he moved permanently to the Philippines (Puerto Galera) a couple of months ago and is now getting the business up and running in PG. Suspect the ‘keenness’ is connected with his desire to get the PG business up & running. He's been diving & instructing on various CCR's for 15 years min...tell your mate to go for it, you won't regret it. Cheers Steve |

| Re: Who has been trained by Paul Neilson? Well I am the strange bloke that barjumpa asked the question for. I did indeed bite the bullet and did my initial training with Paul. I have to admit that I learned a LOT. Not just about CCR either. As an Adv Trimix Diver I thought I knew a fair bit about OC diving but I was still suprised by the odd gem of knowledge Paul managed to throw at me to get the grey matter working. I would unreservedly recommend his training to anyone considering doing a CCR course in Puerto Galera. I was a great way to round off 5 weeks there. I will be doing further training with nim when I return to Puerto Galera in 2010. Now I need to work very hard, save $, and buy an Inspiration Vision. |
