Undersuit for 16'c water

Hello all,

Switched to a drysuit and use a 100g thinsulate and a trilaminate drysuit. Water temp is 16'c ......I know this is hot compared to what you dive in but... what type of undersuit should I switch to? Should I add more layers or just change undersuit?

Re: Undersuit for 16'c water

16 degrees ? mmm I'd say you're already too warm!! I think its whatever works for you, but the bigger and fluffier they are, the more air you carry around in the suit, so bear that in mind.

Re: Undersuit for 16'c water

Hi Pierre

I use the 4th Element Artics Mmmmmm nice and toasty warm, but probably a bit over kill for over in sunny Malta

Although, you might be able to do away with everything else and just wear the Artics under your drysuit - tops, leggings and nice toasty warm feets with Artic socks

It keeps me more than warm over here at the moment. I wore them all last weekend over 2 days diving in Vobster at 7degC and was sweating buckets... Hmmm pleasant mental image there

Re: Undersuit for 16'c water

Hate them personally but a hood makes a big difference to keeping warm when it gets a little colder.

Just a wet suit hood is fine. I have a DUI suit and the DUI hood seals pretty good on the neck and around the face.

Re: Undersuit for 16'c water

How long are your dives? Do you go into long deco stops waiting still? In the winter times, water temp in Greece is anything from 13C to 16C.

I used to wear a 200gsm Thinsulate undersuit but now I have a Weezle. A base layer of thermals some times is also worn for long deco. 3mm gloves and 5mm wet hood. Keeps me nice and warm.

Re: Undersuit for 16'c water

Hello ,

I want to reach the summer times, so between 90min and 120min. At the moment after 60min I am feeling cold, not too cold but not a toast

The biggest problem here is that you end up feeling a lot of heat before you jump. Also in my above post I want to reach summer dive times as maybe someone can understand heat
