![]() | I was thinking about this the other day and would be interested in other peoples views. In the (hopefully) rare event of something going wrong and needing assistance getting to the surface, what do you tell your buddy to do in the event of you being the victim? and what if your buddy needed getting to the surface? scenarios: 1. If you are still on the loop, but need assistance 2. If you have bailed out, the loop is still complete but not usable 3. you are still on the loop and all OK, but your buddy is on his bailout or your bailout. for the sake of this discussion, this does not involve any safety/deco stops. |

| Made in England. Current Rebreather/s: | Re: Diving with OC buddy I have a close freind of mine and dive buddy who dives OC, i took him along one day to an experience day to try the YBOD for himself, and allthough he still dives OC and isn't interested in going CCR, i think it still helped him a lot in understanding more about the unit i dive and may be of use to both of us if any should arise in the future. Hopefully every now and again i can get him back on the unit as a refresher for him! We have allways had a fairly comprehensive training routine practicing various scenarios, now we just have to add some new ones with the Rebreather. ![]()

That's why I tend to not mix and match buddies..... sometimes the OC buddies just don't understand (or want to) what goes on when you are on rebreather. just my O2 cents Dive Safe Rob |

I tell them if I pass out to press this button and pull this toggle in four 5 second bursts untill I come round and then make sure i go OC. If that fails they can try and stick an OC reg in my mouth or just send me up. Frankley I dont expect a lot more from a CCR buddy sure they can check my PP02 but the choices are prety much the same. While I don’t risk my life w/ newbs, guys who make bubbles are definitely NOT the enemy. They are but Rebreather divers in waiting! I’ll expand just a bit on the bail scenario. Two points need clarification. First, I am TOTALLY responsible for my own self rescue. Second, I make OC buddies very aware that if they do not close my BOV, my buoyancy gets very negative, very fast. Since closing my BOV may or may not fix whatever made me goofy, it is regardless time to surface. Best, Ken |
