It will take years before they make that many, and even more selling them all. So what is the problem ?

No, all you did was instantly raised the "value" of the Optima into an "obsolete classic collectable" unit...

The second half of the rumor was that they would only make enough to cover orders already placed.

And you expected what when the manufacturer and training agency share owners?
Wait until the Trimix O2ptima CCR class is sorted and a generic Trimix CCR certification won't do.

Haven't heard that one before, but if they're already making plans to scrap the O2ptima I rather doubt they'll invest into the development of a granular replacement scrubber.

Do you have any pics of your Optima in a nice carry on case?
I use the Storm M2975 for transporting and shipping.
However, when shipping I would "carry-on" the canister which includes the solenoid and the 02 cells, the DIVA and the hansdsets.
Everything else goes into the Storm case.
Have you got an Optima?

No. Just curious on the size of case you use for your unit. I will be trying an Optima next month in Florida.

I also think that this was kind of sucky thinking on their part. You can depress it to make it fire. However, it is a real bitch to push on it that hard.

I am going to try using it in the water just to see. I have been able to make it fire on land. We'll see if I can do it in water.

As far a paying for the PIN and training issue go, I already paid for the Trimix PIN. I just considered it part of the cost of the unit. That made it a little less painful.

In a general sense, to me, diving is freedom. If an untrained person wants the freedom to kill him or herself, I am okay with that just as long as the person going into it understands before acting. So, I would prefer no PINs whatsoever.

Although I am already Trimix certified, I plan on taking the training anyway before diving it again with my Optima. Whether I pay for training and a PIN or not has nothing to do with it. But, again, I like the idea of being free to make my own decision about it. I respect the decision of others not to go this way. I just ask that you let me know about this before we dive together so that I can make my decision about diving with you. Fair enough?

I don't know how long your class is, but the shortest class I run takes about 7 days of diving (plus academics).. Thats not much when you look at it on a per day basis..
