Cora 2

Hi everybody,

just a short note about the new rebreather from seaway CORA 2.

CORA 2 will be shown at the "BOOT 06" the first time to the audience.

The CORA 2 has several modes, all modes can be change just by changing the upper lid.

The mods are:
  • SCR I, just one mix over orifices
  • SCR II, two different mixes switchable (over two orifices)
  • mCCR -(KISS Style)
  • eCCR

SEAWAY will also integrate an CO2 Sensor (1. CO2 Sensor out to the market) with integrated pPO2 Display. For each mod (depends on the lid) you have one upto tree O2 Sensor. The modular scape let us use any standard jacket. (Best from Seaway and have at least two buckles or is a Backplate type).

Cylinders are individual and possible from one 4 liter (40cuf) upto two 12 Liter (80cuf), for the CCR Modus there are also smaller ones possible.

The outer housing of the scrubber is made of V4A stainless steel, for the scrubber there is an isolation agains the cool water in the canister integrated.

This rebreather is developed for low price entry level to the rebreather diving and can grow with the divers experience and needs.

The scrubber volume is variable (from 1 kg upto 3,5 kg).
The Counterlung is OTS and direct connected to the scrubber canister. the other end will be fixed on the shoulder bands. The CL is protected with an Cordura hull. The CL has easy and quick releases for cleaning and drying. There a tree sizes available.

The mouthpiece is one hand operable and smooth.

The price for the base modell (SCR I) (exclude Jacket and cylinders) will be 1800 euro

I will send more pictures and desciptions when the BOOT starts.

Holger

Re: Cora 2

I think its different than the RAY,
the Ray has all in the BCD included, here it is separate.

It will connected to the BCD with cambands (best two bands) or with an adapter to a normal backplate/wing combination.
how the CL be fitted exactly, I will find out at the BOOT.

CORA is an unknown quantity at this point
Re: Cora 2

Hello to all,

the construction is totally different from the units Dräger designed within the Dolphin or Ray. We tried to keep the parts themself simple and easy. The advantage is how the single parts stick together. At least one of the main sentence while constucting was : be shure that it is modular and easy.
We all know that it is nearly impossible to build a rebreather unit that will be used in all cases of different typs of diving. But we tried to do our best and the CORA II is the result of our doing.
On the picture from Holger you see a prototyp of the unit. The final release for the boot got a better finish and a professional look on all parts.
The stainless steel (V4A) canister is done with a beautifull surface coating, the CL is done in a better looking cover, the mouthpiece is changed so it will be more compact.... lost of small changes for the customer.
There are lot of small things that are an advantage starting diving a rebreather and the same for people that are allready used of diving such a thing. SEAWAY is still at the beginning and the evolution of the system just will start with the BOOT2006 show. Everybody in the team is still overloaded with new idees and inovations. Let's start and join our way of diving the fantastic way of silent diving ......

greetings

Hans

Question Re: Cora 2

I am looking forward to seeing the unit at BOOT.

I assume it is only the SCR version, that you will show at BOOT

Re: Cora 2

Hello to all,

yes, you are right. At the BOOT2006 show we will present the SCR I version and the SCR II version. There will no dummy in the presentation but we'll give you an outlook to things that will happend in the future.
The scheduling is fix so the customer is able to start with the SCR and can change to mCCR and eCCR as I descriped in the text above.
Everybody is wellcome to visit our presentation at the BOOT2006
