![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Downloading dives with AP Vision Hello all I am having trouble downloading dives from my inspo-vision, i have uninstalled/reinstalled all the software on my PC but still to no avail. The link from the PC to the head is working, showing serial no and syncro clock etc. But when i go to download dives it gets to between 0% & 5% then flashes up download failed and sometimes uncompatable device. I really dont know what else to do the HUD shows solid red and the hand set PC link1 and sometimes flashes between PC link1 and PC link3 when trying to download.also any news on the timing issues, i have the basic timer option as i did not see the point in paying for the trimix version as i have already owned a VR3 for a years, and i dont like the idea of all eggs in one basket. I did a 36m dive last sunday for 48min but the vision handset showed about 15min less total time than my VR3. My unit is only a few weeks old. ATB Gareth |

| Let Me At 'Em! ![]() ![]() Current Rebreather/s: | Re: Downloading dives with AP Vision Hi Gareth Welcome to the fun world of the Vision ![]() Not sure about you download, hmmm... are you linking it in using the Serial/USB adapter? I found that if I didn't install the software first before linking in the adapter my downloads failed. I think the software houses the correct driver for it somewhere on the CD. I did have a download issue but that was to do with the data downloaded rather than the actual process, which Martin responded to. It might be of some interest. Vision Download Failing that, I'd give Nicky or Philippa a call ![]() With regards to the timing issue, I'm still trying to get responses out of AP and have had a couple of other issues with the head and canister which have resulted in the assembly being re-machined. Both threads are:- Bad Timekeeping Vision - It just gets better! Hope it sort of helps ![]() Cheers

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Re: Downloading dives with AP Vision I found the USB link do exactly what you have found. I mucked around with drivers and on different compuers but still couldn't get it to work properly. The best I could get was that I could download dives but kept getting errors when uploading the latest verion of software to the Vision. In the end I used the serial cable and have not had a problem. Others though have had no problems with the USB connection. There has been a guess that the USB ports may not put out enough voltage.

![]() | Re: Downloading dives with AP Vision Gareth, Had exactly the same problem as you. It looks like the problem lies with the specific computer or laptop you are using. I have a Toshiba Satellite laptop that will not download or upload data. There is another thread about this at: http://www.rebreatherworld.com/inspi...d+communicator . Unfortunately, I found no answer to the problem, the downloading was quite erratic, I would get to about 5% on some tries and even got to 85% at one time. I spoke to Tony at the factory about the problem, but he did not have a solution. The only known problem with downloading is low batteries in the unit, I changed mine with no luck. I tried downloading with my mates Dell laptop and it did it no problem, first time. I then tried it with an old Compaq Pavilion laptop and it worked no problem, both downloading and uploading. I think it's like Rod said, some USB's don't give enough juice to the seirial / usb adaptor and it looks like it's machine specific. You could try pressing CRTL, ALT & DEL keys at the same time, press Task Manager button and then press the Processes tab, look for APD Communicator process, highlight it click the right hand side of the mouse go to Set Priority and choose Real Time. It will give you a warning but press Yes, this will give the APD Communicator priority over other processes, using this got me to 85% once. Speaking to Tony at the factory, apparently you have got to get to 100% before any files are down loaded, it's sort of all or nothing. You will also see the handset read out change from PC LINK 1 through to 3 as it extracts the information form the controllers and handset. For me it is not too bad, I can use the old laptop on a dive boat, if it gets washed then it doesn't matter, I just need to get another battery for it as the original died years ago If you are still having probs, then I can have another crack at it. I will try and compare the settings between the laptops that work and the Toshiba that doesn't. Cheers, Leon |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Re: Downloading dives with AP Vision Thanks everyone for your replies, Leon i am trying to do the downloads on a Dell laptop, but to no avail as you said the down loading is erratic sometimes 0% upto 5%. Last night it got to 18% then failed. I dont have any other PC's and my laptop does not have a serial port, only USB's. I have spoke to AP today and they are sending me a new lead just in case it is this that is faulty, so i will see how it goes when it arrives. ATB Gareth |

![]() | Re: Downloading dives with AP Vision Gareth, Ok, good luck with that. I have a Vr3 and tested the USB adapter by downloading dives using the APD lead and the the VR3's infrared. The VR3 can be quite temperamental, but it worked fine. See how you get on with the new lead. Cheers, Leon |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Re: Downloading dives with AP Vision Hi Leon I have just tryed what you suggested with the task manager, got the download up to 60% the failed, i am starting to think it's like you said more the PC does not have enuff juice to power the USB. Oh well we will see how the new lead goes, but i dont think it will make any difference . And i am not buying a new PC just to work the link.ATB Gareth |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Re: Downloading dives with AP Vision I can confirm it's not the lead, Top service from AP (they tested a lead at the workshop and sent me it) arrived today. Download still only got to 2% Quote: If you have microsoft Hotsync installed for a device like a PDA or MP3 player, you have to get rid of it (and lose the ability to sync, it must be completely uninstalled)..
