![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Re: Halcyon RB80 info. 2) What possible advantage do they have over CCR's ? It is believed by Halcyon that on long dives (9-hour dive that the WKPP lead divers used to do), the sensors might be rendered inoperable due to the moisture built up within the loop. Thus they wouldn't be safe to use for O2 injection. This seems to me to be a potentially valid reason, but wouldn't a dill. spray over the sensor face cure this???? and validate functionality?? I have seen several systems that have this feture (Cis, Meg, Insp, Boris). |

Having never done such a long dive nor experienced first-hand any diluent-spray system, I can't comment since I would be talking out of my other end... ![]() But having done 2 to 3-hour dives on CCR, I know that the condensation on the hoses comes back more quickly after I have cleared them. So I would tend to think the same might apply to the sensor area...

Yes there's no question that condensation in the hoses comes back quickly, I have done 4-4 1/2 hour dives and have never had any kind of sensor problems, I am curious to see how real that problem is.![]() But having done 2 to 3-hour dives on CCR, I know that the condensation on the hoses comes back more quickly after I have cleared them. If all 3 of the sensors are affected, how would you know if there is a problem or not ?Of course, this is all theoretical discussion since we (you & I) do not have first-hand knowledge about how condensation affecting sensors... What happened if the condensation is making the sensors read higher or lower than the loop PO2 ? As far as the electronic is concerned, it just take the reading and act accordingly. So the loop PO2 might not be correct per the electronic PO2 display. Just as an example... Thus the reason for the diluent-spray mechanism to clear the condensation off the sensor face. Then hopefully, the PO2 reading might show a different value, but for how long ? Again, just for discussion until someone knows a lot more come along and explain it all... ![]()
