![]() ![]() ![]() | POLL:Back mounted display system Breaking away from a previous thread. http://www.rebreatherworld.com/gener...html#post27447 Please vote on the concept of a back mounted display system. A back mounted display could be a set of LED or lights mounted on the divers back allowing your buddy to assess your condition without seeing your face. This may add a level of comfort when following a diver into a wreck or other confined space. What do you think about a back mounted display system?

Have been contemplating the idea ... ... by the time I have the dosh to buy a PRISM the HUD deco should be available. If that turns out as planned, computer housed in a battery cap replacement with a monitor displaying sensor and deco data completely separate from the setpoint electronics ... ... the current HUD could be mounted in the back as a buddy display.

If the idea is that your buddy will keep an eye on your PO2 for you and vice versa, wouldn't it be better if you both kept a better eye on your own PO2? I can't see that it can do to much harm but I'd rather have an HUD personally.

The LED lights of a HUD are more visible from a distance and in poor conditions. I'm still un-decided on having the PO2 display on there also. Although I understand why it is on there, I don't think it is an necessity. Top mounted lights would be a better option than slap bang in the centre of the unit; I think that they could be mounted in a better position. I know that no matter where you put them there is going to be a blindspot - I'm just thinking on my own experiences that 9 times of out 10 my buddy is next to me rather than straight ahead, unless the environment causes us to be one behind the other. And the person that's last doesn't get to be monitored anyway ![]()

All you need is the alert, for everything else you can check the handsets or alert the diver to. ![]()

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Re: POLL:Back mounted display system Errr... this might be so obvious that I'm missing something but aren't you only going to be checking it when you think there may be a problem anyway, for example an unexpectedly motionless diver? Can't you do the same with a poke in the ribs or a light flash? If it's for ordinary run of the mill checks during the dive then surely only one diver in a two diver team can be checked and the poor sod at the back is on his own? Sounds a bit of a gimmick but then I'm just a cynic...
