Helium_diver is an unknown quantity at this point
Re: How do you carry your sling tanks?

We were taught that if the shit hits the fan right handed people will instinctively reach for the right side , if thats the rich gas and your at 250 ft could be a problem.

hmmm i never thought of that, that sounds as a good thought though.
I was tought to have
lean mix left, rich mix right, easy way to remember where you have it.
I guess the most important is for the divers in a team to know how each one of the divers have rigged.
If you and i went diving and one of us needed mix from the other, then if we did not discuss it shit could really this the fan!!!
HAPPY NEW YEAR BY THE WAY!!!

I don't agree with that statement at all.. Most righties I know (including myself) feel much more confortable manupulating the cylinders on their left, since you are manipulating the valve/regs at a more confortable distance than right up against your arm..

And with conditioning especially for RBS these days the richest mix (oxygen) is now on the right (earleir Rbs tended to have oxygen on left).. Being narced or scared out of your mind most will probably react as looking for the diluent on the left.. Its a good practice to be in/ mixing both rich and lean gases on the right may lead to a problem when the Shit hits the fan..

Re: How do you carry your sling tanks?

OC I go with lean left rich right, but on the Dolph using a RH stage [I only dive with one 7L stage] I have it on the left as it's a little heavy being on the right, the same side as the 3L.

Suit gas plumbed into the stage, Apeks DST4 1st stage, Egress second stage.

I'll be looking at a 10L H valve for the Dolph soon, so bailout, wing and suit gas will be from that and then I can LH or RH mount the stage.

Re: How do you carry your sling tanks?

I was slinging two bottles either side, rich on left, lean on right but I like the points you guys have made about keeping the rich gases on the same side. I just switched over to the Armadillo on my Sport KISS and have done some dives to 60m with no issues and very nice trim. I have a cave course coming up with Kevin Gurr and cant wait to put them to the test. Thanks for all the info.

Side mount using the Dive Rite sidemount plate on both sides with the rich mix right.

Re: How do you carry your sling tanks?

for me it depends on the dive, but i most oftern run hot mix right cold left, hover go against the norm when using a single stage and run on the right. the way my brain cell works is it is my hottest off board gas so it must be on the right,
If the other brain cell ever developes i my re consider.

I do the same.
The single stage goes on the right for two reasons
1 its 50% so hot (ish)
2 I feel all unbalanced if I sling it left
