Re: Sidemount/Bailout Hose Lengths

I did a quick test on my backplate to see how things would rest. I clipped 40 cubic foot tanks to my shoulder d-rings, and I clipped the lower set to the Armadillo kit clips on my butt.

Other than the fact that the bottom of the tanks stick out just a bit (to the sides, away from my body--probably the trade off of not using the bungee from the back), the tanks ride perfectly parallel to my body, just behind my arm pits. Seems like it should be a very streamlined setup. I don't think they will move at all whether full or empty. It is a very perfect fit. The Armadillo Kit is awesome!

I have taken some pictures using my crappy camera phone. However, I can't seem to upload or synchronize this to my PC. I should be able to upload them soon.

As far as the hoses go, I haven't connected a set yet while wearing my rebreather. Instinctively, it would seem that they would need to be longer than when I slung them for open circuit. After all, they will now have to go a longer distance to reach my mouth by virtue of the tank relocation. Also, I am going to have to play with deployment in relation to the counterlungs, which I am guessing will get in the way until I know what I am doing.

I feel progress coming along here. Thanks for the advice from everyone. I will post the pics as soon as I can.
