One thing that I've always hated about OC diving is the cottonmouth. I simply CANNOT use a full-plastic second stage for more than 20 minutes or so - if I try the discomfort becomes extreme. You can "remove, rinse, repeat" but that's not a great solution in water less-than-pristine. A second with a metal air-tube is more tolerable because it condenses some of your expired humidity and then re-evaporates it - a bit better.

I'm very much looking forward to warm, moist gas......
Oh man, you are sooooo right. Thanks be ti him for giving us CCR.

Re: What temp is OC gas?

OC gas chills from the tank to the hose due to adiabatic chilling, the temp drop is between 70F (3000psi to 140psi) to 100F (4500psi to 140psi) - so that OC stage tank hanging in 40F water could give a first few breaths at -30F to -60F

It takes 10 feet of 1/2 inch SS tube to bring the temp up to near ambient water temp at 90RMV

A Rebreather cools the gas post scrubber or post diver to near ambient water temp, cooling occurs in hoses and counterlungs
