![]() | OTS Communication Options??? I am trying to make a decision between the OTS MKII-BUD (Buddy Phone) or the OTS Aquacom® SSB-2010. I will be using it for general recreational use, but I want it to be of good communication quality and very reliable. I would be interested in suggestions. Thanks! |

Once you get tha hang of timing your breathing (on OC at least) and speech communication is fine. Never was far enough from the other diver to notice a difference in range/quality. The 2010 offers more and costs more. The BuddyPhone is much smaller and so is it's price tag. If you're in OC as the website suggest I recommend contacting John Hott at OTS. |

To those of you who have contacts in OTS, could you let me know who should I contact regarding International sales and marketing ? I have some inquiries from the local military...

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Re: OTS Communication Options??? Phi, John Hott is your man. He is really handy for all sorts of advice about military comms. He can steer you in the right direction on the sales thing. Tell him I said "Hi" when you talk to him. I have their Mag 1000D (diver) and Mag 1000S (surface), high-power military units. The range on them is awesome. I also have their hard-wire comms for PSD work. All of it is extremely high quality stuff. Rob

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Re: OTS Communication Options??? Actually, Phi, a better bet would be for you to talk to Tracy Robinette first. He has export licenses, knows all the players, and can help you get started. He has great contacts with the folks at OTS as well. Failing that, I would still talk to John Hott first, and Mike second, if you know what I mean.

![]() | Re: OTS Communication Options??? The main points are the BUD is push to talk, aquacomm is voice activated with 2 ear pieces. They are lower profile on your mask strap and better reception. Wireless, they will both pick up motor noise from surface activity (and your buddies scooter). I use both so just a matter of your budget basically. |
