There you go Andy, when a bit pushed for time, a whole 4 minutes can be shaved off the prep now ![]() Yes Paul, it's a daring idea. But is it official APD procedure or is it the work of a mad man? If you keep going in such an unconventional direction you could wake up one day with your counterlungs on your back. -Andy |

Tell us how long it takes. 30 mins max including packing the scrubber and the cup of tea while the pos and neg tests run. 3. Do you follow a checklist? No 4. Is there anything special you do (ie that's not in the normal pre-dive checklist)? Not that I'm aware of. I tend to measure the batteries and chuck them if it isn't 6 point something. 5. Anything you generally leave out? I'm not anal about pos and neg tests. If it leaks it's probably round the mouthpiece. Also I don't want to stress the ADV diaphram. If there are no obvious holes I'm happy. I certainly don't start stripping it if it won't go 5 minutes on neg, 5 minutes is a bonus, 30 seconds will do. 6. What takes the most time? The Tea followed by the scrubber.

Am I right? 5mm 316 stainless. As close to 1/4 inch as makes no difference. I have the dwg file around somewhere.I agree that the pad on the OEM BP does make it rather tough for getting off. This may be a good alteration to the stock BP. Andy |

If I have everything already set up from a prior cleaning, all I need to do is possibly put some lube, check that the one way vavles are working, insert a scrubber cartridge (Extend Air), do the positive and negative, check the computer, and I am done. I can do this in about 20 minutes or less. However, if the unit is totally broken down, does not have the tanks installed, etc., it can take me about 45 minutes to assemble and then check everything in addition to running the tests. Usually, I also take extra time to check and then re-check. This is all still pretty new to me. Honestly, I find that the check list provided with the unit has things in the wrong order. So, I am not following it. However, I am pretty methodical (a polite way of saying anal) about things. I am getting to the point where I will develop my own written check list for assembly and testing, and my own laminated (or Wetnotes version of a) pre-dive check list that I will carry with me on the boat. |
