Re: How long does your setup take?

Without any leak, everything perfect, etc... (usually always in that way).

1. Ouroboros
2. From stored state (without cheklist) around 20 minutes
3. I follow the computer checklist (neg test included), and it take around 15 minutes. During this time I dress the rig and start walk to the water or get ready to jump out of the boat.

4. Once ready (before the check list) I do the first and longer neg test while I'm dressing. During the checklist the neg test last for 5 min.

5. For the moment I just use Air as diluent so I don't analyse it and about the O2 I have the storage analysed as I get it from the gas company.

6. Cannister filling.

Nad

Hi Ron,
I'll second that. Except I move stuff/hoses around just to see if it still holds the vaccum in all positions. I caught some weak o-rings like that, some partially un-screwed IP hose fittings, Swagelok fittings forgotten to be crancked tight...

Check this for your self by setting up a neg and then allowing a small leak, it will be very apparant if you have any leak at all. happy dive prep!
Hello Ron, I'l give this a try next time. Nice efficient neg check, and quick too... -Andy

happy dive prep!
Right! and on the kiss units, the oxygen valve must be off, and the kiss valve has to be purged completely.

Hi there Andy, I found this thread looking for other information and my eye caught you're back plate. What's the material? Looks like about .250 thick. Am I right?

I agree that the pad on the OEM BP does make it rather tough for getting off. This may be a good alteration to the stock BP.

On pos, i fill the loop, do a pilsbury dough boy test on the CL's in a couple minutes and listen for the whoosh when I crack the dsv. Another good way to find leaks is to set the neg or pos and then listen around the probable spots for a ticking sound or hiss.
Hi Ron,
Another way of doing a pos check on OTS CL breathers is to ''pilsbury dough boy'' the CL's and lay the unit on its front. If it's got a leak it'll go down, and it'll be quick - less than a minute.

There you go Andy, when a bit pushed for time, a whole 4 minutes can be shaved off the prep now

Re: How long does your setup take?

I take more than 90 mins (at home).. first setup, I do everything nice and slow, taking many breaks along the way. No hurry here, and I refuse to hurry. Guess most my time spent is taking all the various breaks, as it can take me several hours to complete.

Nice and slow.... now thats the way to do it... nice and slow....
