It fit perfectly on the barrel but was very stiff and not comfortable. I told the manufacturer and they sent me a Nitrox green one for free which is noticably more pliable and they were very nice about it. Might work, haven't been back in the water yet. I would consider trimming the inside most part which resembles a regular mpc. I don't think it's needed and makes the thing more uncomfortable. Didn't one of the older military Rebreather manufacturers make a strap that wrapped around the neck/lower head to keep the DSV tight against the head?-Andy |

I put that on a drop tank in a pool and let a bunch of divemaster try it out. Not one of them could get the dang thing in their mouth and they had on scuba gear. I ended up moving it to the shallow end- but it was just too stiff. Poseidon makes some good size (big) mouth peices that my favorite. Scubapro makes a nice Silicone and by the looks of it the Atomics should be nice also. Funny you should mention that black monster. Hey, oncve you go black... never mind. ![]() Regards, Andrew Quote: (Originally Posted by silent running) Hello all, I tried a Manta bite on my Prism, a black one. I am able to fully relax my jaw, so even after several days of diving I have absolutly no jaw fatigue! However, at first it is a bit of getting used to that feeling of having a slice of orange stuck in your mouth. I sort of look at it this way, the manta bite is something you either love it or hate it after the first try. As for me, it works great! cheers, RBN |

Imagine losing your mouthpiece in the cave with a light failure, and no problem. And while exiting, just take it out of your mouth to find the line if needed... ![]()

I haven't had it in on a dive long enough to see.... the one thing that is nice about it if you don't want to use the wings you can just leave it out and use it like a regular MP...... I've used one on open circuit for a bit over 100 dives,Rob and I like it a lot - it cut down on jaw fatigue in a big way for me. I can really feel the diff after a weekend of diving. Just put it on my inspiration, it took a bit of stretching to get the base over & seated flush. First dive went well; again, it noticeably cut down on jaw fatigue. I get borderline tmj from time to time, and I like how it takes some of the load off my teeth. I haven't had to think about trimming, the stock size is a reasonable fit for my big mouth :-) For what it is, it seemed a little spendy when I bought it. But I'm going into year 3 with it now, it is still holding up well. John G. |
