rebreathers and airlines

Hey folks, new to the forum. With the first of many (dumb?) questions.
Can you travel on airplanes with rebreathers?
Thanks in advance,
Eric

I have never had a problem. They have looked funny at my bags of sorb so I carry the MSDS sheet in each ziplock sealed bag that I pack my sorb in. I have actually stopped transporting sorb since it is widely available in most destinations nowadays.

You'll save yourself allot of mental anguish if you can fit it into an overhead bag and carry on....

The only point comes down to cylinders...., remove the valves. If your going to tape of bag over them, carry them on as well, so you can be there to chat w/ the TSA guy if needed. An underwater photo of you in your rig will go a long way in clearing up any questions of what it is.

If bringing sorb, take a MSDS... I successfully took an entire new keg to Bonaire w/o issue. I havn't tried Ziploc's of smaller amounts yet.

Check these threads about a recent trip from San Diego - JFK - Puerto Rico with a rEvo, a CK, and 100 pounds of sorb.

You can also reference a back issue of Advanced Diver Magazine, in the article, "Getting There is Half the Fun." If you are an Optima diver, the travel case also makes flying a breeze.
