Worthington Steel Tanks

Anyone that is looking for Rebreather Tanks needs to check out the Galvanized Worthington tanks. The 13cf works well on the Sport Kiss and as a replacement for the Tanks on the Optima if you want a smaller tank. They are 2.3 pounds negative empty. The 19cf also works well on the Meg and I have a set of 30cf ordered to try out as an extra set for my Optima.

Sea Pearls is the US distributor for them.

Re: Worthington Steel Tanks

The only problem with these cylinders is the pressure rating. They are rated for 3130+, so to get a full 13 or 19cf of gas you need 3442psi. Not a problem if you happen to be in cave country near one of Rennakers shops, but quite possibly a problem many other places. Trying to get decent O2 fills on these while travelling may be near impossible.

I can get 3200 + with my Jetsam booster so it's not a problem for me. I can't see diving a Rebreather without one due to the O2 fill problem. Covert your 104's to banks and you are set.

Re: Worthington Steel Tanks

I was looking at using the 40's for mine.

It's a little larger around then the Faber 20's which is 3.9 while the Worth is 5.4. And around 3.3lbs heavier per tank. The Worth is .75 shorter of a tank. Total weight though, the Worth weighs 10.6lbs more. Each...

But if you can get it filled. It would be 40cf instead of 19. If you own a booster. Sweet. At 6.6lbs heavier in water with 2 tanks. I just wonder how they balance out. And making my Rebreather 21lbs heavier because of the tanks minus 6.6lbs for the Weight reduction of your backplate or weight would equal out to 14.4lbs heavier. And an extra 40cf of gas should weigh about 3lbs or so. Would be nice if they could knock 5lbs off each cylinder.

Worth's are also Spray galvanized

psi
+10% CF Dia Height Weight WeightMT Weight Full
Faber 13 2400 13 3.9 14 5.9 -2.25 -3.31
Faber 20 2400 20 3.9 19.5 7.5 -1.5 -3
Worth 13 3130 13 4 12.5 6.9 -2.3 -3.3
Worth 19 3130 19 4 16.5 9.3 -2.2 -3.8
Worth 30 3130 30 5.4 14.75 14.9 -3.9 -6
Worth 40 3130 40 5.4 18.75 18.1 -3.3 -6.3

Well, I had it spaced right. And when it submitted it took all the spaces out...Sorry...

Hey Rick, I sent you a pm on the other board about the used meg, but your mailbox was full...

anyway,

40's are a lot of gas for CCR, I fill my faber 3l tanks to 3000psi & get a full weekend out of them. what's all the extra gas for?

I thought the Worthingtons were hot-dipped/no paint (like PST's)

Re: Worthington Steel Tanks

Anyone know what the largest cyl you could safely put on an alumunim cased sport kiss. I think partially filling a larger tank may be cheaper than buying a booster. My gas supplier will only sell me K cyls of "divers grade o2" which are only filled to 2000psi.

They are hot dipped.. I had a brain fart....

I finally got the message. When I caught I had to many pm's.. Thanks.. My buddy bailed out of buying it. Christmas and kids have to eat.. LOL....

I wanted 1 or 2 sets for deep long. It Innerspace ever comes out with the 8lb scrubber. They'd be sweet. I was thinkin just strap on AL40's. But, I like steel. And the 40 worthingtons are basicly the 20 fabers with more steel.. Little bigger around and Little shorter. Be nice for bailout too. If you could use 40's...

I know. The all the eggs in one basket ticket. But just for stuff around 100ft or so.

No problem - it's not my unit to sell so I'm out nothing by answering a few questions about it...

I guess I'd have to see the 40's. My main concern is getting too wide. I know it's only a few inches, but sometimes that can seem like a lot when you're pushing it through the water (or a hole in a wreck...)

We stock the Worthington Galvanized series of cylinders as well as Faber and Luxfer. We also have a great tank spec page to help in comparing cylinders. It's Imperial at the moment (maybe I can get someone to convert it :-)) But it gives you a good idea as to what's available.
