Oriskany Props?

I may not have this in the right forum, but I'm looking for an answer for a friend. Here's one for all you Pensacola guys. Does anyone know for sure if the props still on the Oriskany? I know a lot of the brass, bronze,copper, and aluminum were salvaged prior to the sinking. I would think the props would have been worth a fortune in scrap, but may have been too big to take off.

I have many dives on the Big O, but only to about '170 or so. I haven't gotten brave enough to try to see the props. We may try to work up to it in the next year, so it'd help to know if they're in place or not.

FWIW I have not personally seen them, but I spoke to a diver when I was there and he said he has video taped them.

Now alll you need is a big lift bag, a REALLY big wrench, and probably a REALLY REALLY big cotter pin puller and they're yours.

Hello,

Anyone have any ideas on how to disguise one of these so that the dive master on the boat doesn't notice I snatched it?

You don't need a lift bag, I just stuff it in my pants and use my wing. It doesn't look out of the ordinary. Although come to think of it I did seem to get more attention from the female DM on those trips.

I'm sorry to hear that there is enough room in your pants to fit a prop from the Oriskany in there.
