Breathing hose removal with HUD

Hello all,

For those who's unit has a HUD or done aftermarket, to clean the breathing hose after every dive you will need to remove the HUD, right ? How is yours attached and if it is a pian to have to remove everytime? I would like to have some opinions from different units if possible like Meg, Vision elec and Uri ....

Thanks I know I am bugging you about HUD's but mine is on the way

Re: Breathing hose removal with HUD

In the photo below you can see the stalk the HUD sits on

The HUD itself tightens itself onto the stalk by means of a nut.

You can see the knurled nut in the photo above.

Re: Breathing hose removal with HUD

On the PRISM the HUD is held by a thumbscrew visible in the picture.
FlyingK mounted his on the left with a second mounting stalk.

Re: Breathing hose removal with HUD

On the Inspiration / Evolution it is held in a plastic clamp. Simply slips in and out of it. The fibre optic cables are clipped into plastic clips attached to the inhalation hose. Very easy to remove and install...30 seconds work.

3 clamps with different length stalks are provided with the unit so the distance from the face can be varied. The angle of the stalk can als be adjusted by rotating the end of it around the mouthpiece.

Jeez Stefan that looks terrible! I would like to point out to P. F. that most Prism divers seem to be fine with the stock setup of 1 rubber fitting. It's very easy to remove, it slides off the DSV or you can unscrew the knurled plastic screw. I use 2 very thin velcro strips to hold my cable on the hose, which are easy to remove. There's a good picture of my set up on the SMI website in the testimonials section-Andy

Re: Breathing hose removal with HUD

On the Boris the HUD simply clips on/off and is held in with a lug, this can be screwed in but no need really.

I have one of Uri Baran's HUD's on my YBOD, this one is held in place by two cable ties so no problem to cut off post-dive and refit prior to diving again.

Looks pretty goofy, doesn't it.
But it was the best I could find in my files that actually shows
the thumbscrew well, and the only one I have of the stalk without
the HUD attached. You can see the slot that allows the display to
be vertically adjusted. Thought I throw that in while I'm at it.
