It seems to be... but I think there is still a considerable wait for the electronics; but I might be wrong. Mine is definitely 5-6 weeks from this week, so will be ready for when I go down for my course.

Great news Lou!

To be honest, I'd heard that what you lose in size on the Evo, you make up for in lead on your belt, so you won't lose anything by going Classic...

If it isn't delivered in time, will Beanie lend you his for the course?

Mmmm... I doubt it
The nervous look on his face when I put his on my back on Friday and walked around the lounge

I've tried the "what's yours is mine" but it doesn't appear to work

And now he's got to put up with "I've brought a box" and "xxx weeks, days, hours, minutes till I have my box" until it finally arrives... Aww

Sweetie thank you for sorting it for me

I went for a drastic rethink... although it didn't take much for me to change my mind... well I was still thinking about it on Friday morning, but by lunchtime I had decided.

By the sounds of it quite a few people are pulling out because of the delivery times. I wanted to be on it and getting my hours up by this time next year. With the delivery date pushed back till Christmas I couldn't realistically see myself getting the unit and the course sorted this side of Christmas/ January 06. Which for things we have planned etc was cutting things fine. There were a couple of other things that swayed my decision but with the due date getting pushed further and further back I decided to go for the Inspo after all. My issue regarding weight etc as John said is made up for the unit weight rather than adding more weight to the Evo unit so I don't see it as an issue anymore.

So the decision has been made and I'm soooooooooo excited

I'm not sure on delivery dates for the Inspo with the Vision electronics..

I've gone for the Classic ones.. if I want to upgrade later I can do, but my regular buddies dive with the classic leccies so it makes a bit more sense I suppose. Plus this way I can purchase a nice shiney VR£

And alas as far as I am aware mine and Ed's units are the last ones they intend on doing with colours as it is slowing things down; although I don't think this is the main reason for the delays...

Nick... when's your unit due?

Miss Louby Lou,

I am very glad that you have made your choice and dived in, so to speak! We look forward to you joining the ranks as soon as you can.

I am very glad that you did not listen to the nay-sayers and members of "The Amish Diving Society"! The simple truth is that they haven't the faintest bloody idea what they are talking about!

I know, from your comments, that you are a fairly experienced diver, and that your SO is already a "Dark Side" diver, so you know a lot more about the situation than most divers contemplating the "leap of faith"!

Just as a note of interest, some years ago now the Japanese were teaching ab initio divers to dive the Fieno re-breather from the very start of their classes. They did not report any problems in the learning curve. The effort is not continuing now, but htis has everything to do with the economics of the situation, and nothing to do with the equipment.

As for the colours, I hope you will decorate your unit as much as possible to your liking!

Some years ago now I was taking a Public Safety Diving course. I was wearing my Super-beanie, my orange gloves, and my yellow fins. My instructor, who was a charter member of "The Amish Diving Society" started yelling: "G********t Rob, you look like f*****g Easter Egg out there!" (Remember that their belief is that you can have any colour you want, as long as it is BLACK. Also, they firmly believe that you can have any computer you want, as long as you torture and CRIPPLE it!---Sadists, they are!)

My personal belief is that in low vis water one WANTS to be seen, if for no other reason than diver safety! Other than that, when you are spending that kind of cubic wonga, one should be bloody-well able to get the colours one WANTS,
by God!!!

I use the Classic YBOD for instructing (per APD and SDS requirements), and I use the BBOD with seven-liter cylinders in it for expedition work. Both have the classic hand-sets, and they work extremely well.

As for borrowing your SO's unit for some training, I would suggest that you put his YBOD on and nothing else when you waltz around the lounge in front of him. You should be able to get him to promise damn-near ANYTHING!!!

Cheers!

Rob Davie
