![]() | Buttplates! Hi all, I want an attach a buttplate to an Evolution without having to replace the standard harness. The GolemGear Armadillo has 2 eyelets and looks like could be fitted in 2 ways: 1: Drill two holes into the bottom/back of the plastic case and fit the butt-plate to it with two quicklinks. or 2: There's a 5 inch wide velco strip attaching the bottom of the harness to the bottom of the wing. I could loop webbing around this with two quicklinks hanging off - but might be a bit wobbly. The DiveRite buttplate (as per the Transpack harness) has webbing loops for 2" waistband as well as eyelets, but sitting here I can't remember if the Evo waistband goes all the way around or simply stops where the weight pouched start? One interesting alternative is simply strapping a large double d-ring to the crotch straps as per this rebreatherworld link: http://www.rebreatherworld.com/rebre...armadillo.html Any advice or comment would be great. Cheers, Matt |

![]() | Using a double d-ring on your crotch strap is interesting, but on the Evolution (standard) the crotch straps attached to a ss ring which is stitched on to the unit with webbing. Mine already has started to come unstitched; can anyone comment on whether its sensible to hand bailouts of the crotch strap? |

I have found this means little movement in the side mounted bailout cylinders which works well, especially when the crotch strap is threaded through the Armadillo. A friend of mine who has tried many different variations for side mounting both open circuit and closed tried the deep sea supply double d ring solution and didn't find it comfortable due to the movement. This is not a slight on Deep Sea Supply as they make excellent quality products, it was just not the right solution for him, YMMV. I helped a friend last week adapt an Armadillo for his Inspiration. We used the drainage holes on the case where it sits closest to his body and added eyelets to the Armadillo that lined up with these holes. We then added a stainless bar to the inside of the case to add support and then threaded the bolts through holes drilled in the bar, through the case and into the Armadillo. Cheers, Ben. |

![]() ![]() | Re: Buttplates! Hijack.... I found replacing the harness with a Mark Meadows low profile backplate and using a Dive Rite Transplate Deluxe Harness along witht he Undercounter D-Rings from Tobin worked great.... Just added a Golem Gear Sidemount kit which includes the buttplate and attachments for the tank bungies. Haven't dove it yet but have quite of bit of time on my sidemount kit (Nomad) which is of similiar design. Well worth the cost, time of installing. PM if you would like pics
