Re: have you modified your rebreather poll

Hi
the poll result to date and all your posts seems to show that rebreather diver are really concerned by their configuration.
it also shows that no stock rebreather meets all the needs of the divers and that the divers want to modify their machine to meets their exact needs adding more or less electronics, more or less redundency etc.
very interresting
regards
jean mi

It has to be.
If pulling things to pieces regularly isn't your thing rebreather diving is not for you.

it is off topic (my anwser not your's) but even if I sometimes take all the pieces appart I have developped a personnal strategy .
after each dive I only remove the sensor holder the cannister and the dump small counter lung caps, the dsv and leave all other pieces in place,

once the canister and sensor holder are removed I rinse the rebreather loop with water and let it as it is .

why : after years of rebreather diving I've discovered that taking all the parts appart and assembling them back at every dive was harmfull for the plastic parts (and all my parts are plastic parts),

it does not prevent me from performing positive and negative tests, to test the dsv non return valves and to be carefull, but It eases a lot the preparation work and protect the loop parts from the mecanical agression onf assembling and disassembling.

of course periodicaly I undo every parts and change the orings and service what must be serviced.

regards

jean mi

Re: have you modified your rebreather poll

1. Shortened several of the LP hoses as they were much to long.
2. Added a QD between the ADV shut off and the LP hose to make it eaiser to un-do post dive.
3. Added a 90 degree elbow between the injection QD and LP hose so that it would be routed straight down the side of the can instead of bowing out.
4. Added RV3 mount to the primary handset.
5. DR handset pocket for secondary display
6. LP hoses on 90 deg swivels so the hoses they run straight up the side of the can.

Future mods.

1. Adding a BOV.
2. Line X coating on the can.

Re: have you modified your rebreather poll

I guess these aren't serious MODS:

1. Golem BOV (best mod that can be done in my mind)
2. Drager FFM with single point bailout plumbing
3. DR Side Mount system
4. Wrist slate primary console mount (very handy)
5. DR console pocket for secondary console (fits perfect)
6. HP hoses mounted straight up with LP's on 90 deg swivels

Future:

1. Shearwater Head w/ Pursuit integrated
2. Radial Scrubber

The BOV/FFM combo is simply awesome. The comfort and ease of bailout is sweet. The whole face stays dry and warm with no jaw fatigue what so ever, which makes the BOV doable in high current situations.

Re: have you modified your rebreather poll

classic inspo

left yellow cover on (so david keeps the sexy black one)

custom made marine grade ss backplate with single piece webbing harness
third party HUD (rebreathersolutions) with currently 3 extra 02 cells ( makes 6 cells in the head) to be reduced to 4 soon

off-board O2 tank, with apeks DS4 first stage non depth compensating, feeding hydrogome CMF from Tecme, hooked up to a feed into the exhale side of the scrubber ( made by John narked@90)

making her an kisspiration or a dEvolution. Basically can run her as a mCCr or eCCr depending on the valve I am opening.

Future changes:
1) cell holder for the classic head - I hate that you can reach your cells without a tool
