![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Well I am going to be in Hawaii for the month of July this year and I am looking for some Rebreather Friendly dive shops as well as some suggestions for a some good shore diving if possible. I will be staying at the Base in Pearl for the duration but should have access to a vehicle of some sort while I am there. There will be two of us who will want to do some Rebreather diving and probably a few more interested in SCUBA. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks Rob P.S. Also some enviromental information would be helpfull as well, like what to wear in the H2O..... |

![]() | Re: Going to Hawaii!! Rob, Just got back from Hawaii (The Big Island, Kona). I know that it is not where you are going, but you may like to contact Jim at Konaquatica and have a talk to him. Jim is rebreather friendly, and would be a good contact to make reguardless. He might be bale to point you in the right direction for diving on Oahu. Cheers. Mick. |

![]() ![]() ![]() | Re: Going to Hawaii!! Hey Rob, I work for Island Divers Hawaii (Hawaii Scuba Diving with Island Divers Hawaii - Honolulu, Oahu, Hawaii, Waikiki) which is located on Hickam AFB right next door to Pearl. We 've got a few Inspo divers on staff here and we just signed on as dealers with Silent Diving and are waiting for our order of 2L tanks to come in. We have a full gas blending station so air/O2 is no worries and we're one of the few shops that allow Rebreather on our dive boat, and the only RB shop on the island. Our dive boat goes out every day. Military rate for boat charters are $65 (If you're not active duty it's $85/charter) but you're going to be limited to OC profiles/times. We do offer longer CCR dives but they cost more because you have to rent a staff member for the charter. I believe the CCR/Tech rate is $130. But we do run some specials several times a month that we can talk about, they would only run you the $65 ($85). We do require CCR divers dive with a bailout tank of 30cf or larger. As for conditions, you're lucky, the water is warming up we're now up to around 76/77 deg F and by mid summer we should be 79/80, so most people are wearing just 3mm full suits. For longer shallower dives (<100') I usually add a 3mm hooded vest. For the longer deep dives I pull on the trusty 5mm. Vis of course is almost always great. Let me know if you have any other questions.

The flattop and cruiser they sunk 2 years ago were in over 1000' of water, how about putting something around 200-250ish? The area we want to sink it has already been approved for artificial reefs... Look forward to seeing you out here.Rob

Look forward to seeing you out here. That would be nice but I thing you want to talk to the US divers. We did send a few Canadian Divers out to help with the set up and demolition side of the sinking last time but I don't think we have too much influance about where it goes down! I will just be happy to get in some warm water diving along with a little work in between. Rob |
