Whoopee. Today we saw a huge school of Koi, though. Don't drop into a USAF Base with a MiG. Trust me here. And I thought we were all on the "Blue Team". No wonder they call it the "US Chair Force". Navy guys wear patches saying things like "Tomcat: 1000 hours flown" and "First Flight Centurion" (100 traps aboard the Kitty Hawk). The USAF guys all had patches on their flightsuits saying things like "Powerpoint: 10,000 hours given", etc. Reason for being skosh gas was low cloud that forced me down early, and jets burn about 3x the gas down there as up high. And, hey: I figured that the Chair Force might want to see a MiG, Dig? Dunno why they were all uptight, I parked at least 100 feet from that big-old-stack-o-500 pound bombs that they were forklifting into that C-5A... . The guy they hauled out yesterday is fine, or so says the lady at the booth today. Expensive day today: My 26 year old Viking Pro Surveyor, probably the oldest drysuit in current service, finally wore out. The patch that was on top of LARGE patch that covered the hole in the front of my boot where the fins rub finally wore thru.... yet again. Right thru. Not hard to find the leak, it's where the water was running *out* of the suit after I got out of the water. So... I'm retiring it. Just ordered a new Bare cross-chest zip suit, hope it lasts as well as the old black Viking (may it rest in peace). Hardly got my money worth outta the old thing.... ![]() Dave
