Got a autograph of one of the first rebreatherdiver Hans Hass!

Seems your not the only one that used "one of the first"....the english language is so funny. One of the first = one after the first one = not the first one. Seems it not just numbers, statistics and graphs that can be tweaked to support any arguement.

I believe the phrase implies "one of the first group" or in the original context above, "one of the pioneers". I don't think anyone would be brave enough to claim they had definitively identified "the" original for anything in our sport as there is always someone who can identify a prior obscure effort that identifies someone else as "the original"
