Jill,
This was a great video and the explantion of how we effect low oxygen areas with open circuit systems- that was incredible!

It reminds me how as divers we directly impact the areas that we are visiting and exploring.
Tom's comments- were awesome and very supportive of closed circuit technology. Plus, having minimal impact as possible without introducing oxygen, or effecting the ceilings with exhauled gas.
Very interesting...

Thank you for starting Rebreather Pro and the RSS link.

Regards, Andrew

Re: Tom Iliffe Video:Rebreathers and Scientific Exploration

Thanks Andrew,

It has been really interesting to see how rebreathers are increasing the range of many scientists now. Besides leaving the water chemistry untouched, being able to move through the caves without bubbles and hence percolation is incredible. I recall diving Bahamian Blue Holes with Tom prior to him embracing rebreathers. We had a hard time collecting animals because as soon as we stopped we would blitz the cave with silt from bubbles. Now we can stop, observe behavior and then collect in a much more relaxed fashion.

All the best!

Jill
