![]() | Re: Final Decompression Stop Depth 6 meters for me as well. Same reasons as others. A couple of others as well: In some of the overheads in which we dive there are advantages to 20 feet. In Devil's Ear there's a submerged tree. With the strong flow coming out you ascend to 20, put your back against the tree, and the flow holds you securely in place for a long deco. If you rise to 15, you may have to straddle the tree like a cowboy. Resisting the flow can tire you out. In Devil's Eye and Little River there are natural ledges to rest on while decompressing at 20. At Madison Blue you exit the cave through a small opening and the basin has a nice slope making 20 comfortable. However at Jackson Blue there's a very comfortable large rock at 15' that will will fit 2 laying down. A perfect deco stop. In general there seem to be good 20' opportunites while cave diving, 15' is more prevalent outside the overhead zone. And why do more work than you have to? Paul |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Re: Final Decompression Stop Depth 6m for many of the reasons given above. Plus buoyancy is easier to control at 6m especially if there is a swell and surface "current". If the computer shows a shallower stop I usually stay at 6m for several minutes more before ascending slowly towards the new ceiling.

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Re: Final Decompression Stop Depth The final stop is always a trade-off between staying deep to reduce bubble size, and shallow to reduce O2 effects. So I use a happy medium of 15 ft - it's a PO2 of 1.4, but somewhat higher pressure than a 10 ft stop.

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Re: Final Decompression Stop Depth Depends... 6m if I'm on oxygen. 3m if I'm on anything other than oxygen. For big dives, my last stop is often lying on the surface of the water breathing O2 for several minutes before climbing back on the boat. |

You will still have to clear the last couple of minutes at 10 foot stop on the way up. However, if you ascend slowly, it doesn't add up to much extra.I have just bought a HH controller and the last stop is at 3m. I personally would prefer to do the last stop at 6m but it's not an option on the computer. What do you do guys when you're following the deco on you computer? Do you still do the last stop deeper than what the computer says? Doesn't it take ages to clear the last stop? |

If its flat 3 if not maby 4.5 or 6. Last friday was a shot line ascent so i did it all at 8 ![]() ATB Mark

![]() | Re: Final Decompression Stop Depth I like 5m As last stop in Norway .. The lager n lime seems to be at 6ms The fresh water run off is from 3.5 up,,, bloody cold there 2/3 degrees in the water, possibly 0 degrees in the fjords. not nice on kit or me . Also another Reason being , if i loose my buoyancy during deco ill still be at 5.5 or 4.5. |

![]() ![]() | Re: Final Decompression Stop Depth 20'....just try 10'....the Rebreather will pump gas too you too fast...try not expelling gas around the mask, etc....plus, it is a bit hot at 10'...in warm waters. Of course, I'm speaking about the Optima....other systems may be different. Doug |
