![]() ![]() | Re: Military members Muster Hi one and all. I was a Mine Clearance Diver in the Royal Navy for 10 years, then a Saturation Diver in the oil fields around the world. So my career took in the Falklands war, and some decidedly dodgy area's around the world! Basically, I've been paid to dive all my life, I've never had a day job, and never done a nine to five. The re-breathers we used were antiquated in the extreme compared to what you guys have nowadays. So I think I could learn a lot on this site. I would like to learn a bit more about modern re-breathers for my second book. Have a look at my site, if anyone is interested. DIVER DIVER. A diving book. Diving, scuba, saturation, a life under water. I look forward to meeting and chatting with lots of you on here, so on-wards and down-wards! Looking forward to it, Tony. |

![]() ![]() | Re: Military members Muster Bro, Yea, we hooked up with the Navy SRT teams when ever we did Nuc. REF/DEF missions. That was the only excitement during one of those. I remember being at PNSY and taking over an old BOQ. Decided to do our own "demo" entries. By the end of our stay the building was condemned.seems we enlisted the sametime. I went to a recruiter in RI though...that's sweet you did the FAST teams. I did some training for the marine/navy SRT team in guam, the marines know how to flood a room. hooya laytah steve I miss unlimited rounds going through the MP5N!!!! I never went to Guem. Seemed like the Balkans and the Desert liked me too much to let me leave.

Basic Training: Watson's Bay Hotel (I kid you not) Deployed all over Sydney, Canberra and even Cooma. Served my time as a gunner firing a trumpet in the band. You couldn't ask for a getter bunch of guys and a great way for a kid at the end of high school to start to learn how to function in the world. 2008 is the 50th Anniversary of the unit (and I think 51 years for the regiment).
