Goodbye OC, hello CC !

Some time ago I came across this site, posted an intro, spoke to an instructor about going onto a rebreather, but decided not to pursue it at the time, as didn't think I'd be able to find other Rebreather divers to dive with so the money got spent elsewhere.

About a month ago, I got talking to an instructor at a dive-club I'd stumbled across who mentioned that he had a Dolphin for sale as he had no time for fun-dives as he was busy doing OW courses and couldn't wear the unit for training students, hmm I think......a week later I'm in a swimming pool in Vinkeveen having a try dive, and one impulse purchase ( standard operating procedure for me ) later I'm the owner of the unit, + the various flow meters, Oxy2 + Uwatec Air Z O2, and a transit van full of Draeger Sorb.

This morning I had my first proper open water dives during the training course after doing the theory over a couple of nights with Pim of PTD in NL, okay its not a Meg or a Kiss but I'm happy for the time being to have something to play on, and who knows after a few months I might look at converting it to mCCR, or sneakily replace it with something else ( surely the wife wouldn't notice the change of kit would she ? )

It's an amazing feeling watching the fish swim past ignoring you, where before on O/C they'd be outta there sharpish.

Tomorrow are the two final dives on the course and fingers crossed I'd have passed the course, and no doubt my missus will want shot of the O/C kit that is cluttering up the house.

Off now to prep the kit for tomorrow....

Welcome to Rebreather World again, and a very happy welcome to the "Dark Side" of diving!!

When you get a little farther into the program, we'd like a nice long post detailing your training experiences to post in our articles sections, with some piccies as well if possible.

Glad you made the decision, and again, welcome aboard!

good luck with your two final dives and welcome to Rebreather World I have not been here very long myself but can highly recommend it for info and some good banter with a bit of straight talking thrown in for good measure!

Regards you O/C kit i'm sure your missus loves it just as much as you do!

Freezing my bits off - damn right....I couldn't even see them yesterday whilst changing :-))

Vinkeveen Island 4 was a tropical 15degrees yesterday, I'm currently diving in a semi-dry as my drysuit is too baggy for me and need to find someone to alter it, something to do with me losing weight by walking everywhere and hence not being a fat bloater anymore.

OK, off now to get a parking space ( I ain't walking there today ! )
