A good book

Just finished 'Diver' by Tony Groom, its an excellent book.
Groom was a RN Clearance Diver and is now a commercial sat diver. He describes life as a RN diver, his experience in the Falklands war and then goes on to talk about commercial work.

there's some terrifying stuff about pulling unexploded bombs out of a ships magazine in the middle of an air raid, or getting bounced around the bottom in a bell at 120m when the support ships power fails.

Simon

PS. Dave Sutton gets a credit for his photo of a CDBA

Re: A good book

Sounds very interesting. Sadly, temporarily out of stock both on Amazon.com and amazon.co.uk.

Re: A good book

It's being sold on ebay, I think directly from the author.

Try this:

Royal Navy DIVER. A diving book. Military, Scuba, on eBay, also, Log Books Manuals PADI, SCUBA Snorkelling, Sporting Goods (end time 18-Feb-08 21:07:00 GMT)

Dive safe,

Gary

Re: A good book

Another potential source.

AquaPress.co.uk - diving books, underwater photography books and information about scuba diving and snorkelling

Re: A good book

Tony is the real deal, and I enjoyed a nice correspondance with him as he wrote the book. Good guy, and a good read.
