I have considered a design using a Stainless Steel diaphragm that would be deflected by a fluid on the other side. The Booster was manufatured in '97. Now I am working about a new booster powered with an high pressure water pump. Better cooling... perhaps no explosion. YouTube - Broadcast Yourself. Dr.Deep Pressure washers are readily available that produce 2500-3500 psi water. Good luck, Tobin

| CK #159 Current Rebreather/s: | Re: Oxygen booster explosion: be careful! Grinders, WD-40, everything else and HP oxygen. Is it really that shocking? I was not shocked to see "La Plongée" above the door. It reminds me of places in France that serve a little oil with your air fill. I miss France, but not some of the scary dive operations that I witnessed. Cheers!! Kevin |

If you are in fact Dr. Deep, shouldn't you think about buying a Haskel and not screwing around with a home-build booster? I'd guess the damage in the shop was more than a good pump would have cost. The Booster was manufatured in '97. Now I am working about a new booster powered with an high pressure water pump. The other "mezza sega" that spoke about WD 40 , must know that my booster was working with Fomblin oil and WD 40 was there only by pure chance. The booster worked great for 10 years and exploded only after the second one way valve (perhaps USA made) replacement that was guaranteed for oxygen use. By the way the most of you never dive where I start decompression. Best regards Dr.Deep |

| Staying Silent! Mostly... Current Rebreather/s: | Re: Oxygen booster explosion: be careful! Well I suppose this just goes to prove yet again that some people can and do get away with building/using homebuilt boosters for a while without incident. Yet there are others using commercial purpose-built boosters that end up having an incident at some point as well. In the end it only takes a tiny error in cleanliness or in operating procedure to end up with an O2 fire/explosion. We all need to remember to be vigilant at all times so we can promptly deal with an event when it happens and minimise any damage. |
