Can anyone let me know what I can expect tax wise ordering goods from the US into Alberta.... Is it more cost effective that ordering into the UK? Not sure of what you guys get hit for, but the UK is horrible. Cheers, Moray |

So the higher the declared value the higher their "fee" - highway robbery since it's at least 20% on a $200 item plus duties and taxes FedEx isn't much better US post is the best way to ship US to Canada (expedited (EMS) if you want a tracking number) All I've ever paid is at most $5.00 fee plus taxes (5% GST) and sometimes not even that. Duties depend on what it is and where it was made. Most US made items aren't taxed under NAFTA. What are you shipping? |

Sometimes the brokerage fee is included in the shipping price but after a certain value (don't recall the $$) it is not included and can be quite high. Much cheaper.

![]() | Re: Ordering goods from US to Canada (Alberta) Some suppliers only ship UPS . I've had no probelms with US Postel service, in fact it's been faster than UPS. I think they charge a flat brokerage fee of $7.00 CDN. Payable at Canada post along with the GST... |
