| Johnny The Hatch ![]() Current Rebreather/s: | HI guys, just came home from the cinema, went to see the cave. I really liked it. Not the story... but all the cave shots with the Meg Anyhow as there is less than a month until i get my Meg i now have some questions about what i saw... 1. I do not know the sequence of the HUD, but what does it mean when it flashes red? In the movie it does that all the time and i would have thought it would mean high ppO2 2. In the begging they explain that the Meg is capable of 24 hours diving with the lithium hydroxide... but then again the scrubber did not look anything like the Cis-Lunar scrubbers i have been in contact with, in fact it looked pretty much like an extend-air cartridge... Can the Meg be used with extend air? 3. The Cave Meg as it has been called, is it a Meg, a Mini Meg or something in between? Any details on it. Any one else seen the movie and want to comment on it? kind regards Jonny |

| Staying Silent! Mostly... Current Rebreather/s: | Hi Jonny, I've seen the film also and can agree it was good for the bits with the Meg, but I think the plot was a little lacking & maybe a bit predictable... Red flashes on the HUD indicate each .1 PPO2 below 1bar. i.e there are a few occasions I spotted in the film were you see the HUD flash red twice indicating that the current PPO2 is 0.8 bar. If the PPO2 was 0.7 it would flash red 3 times. High PPO2 such as 1.8> is indicated by a long green flash. Yes I spotted the scrubber which I agree does look like the extend-Air cartridge. I can't remember if they can be used with the Meg or not, but given their conservative duration ratings & cost compared to normal Sofnolime fills I'd say they weren't worth it. But I may be corrected by some of the more knowledgeable people on the board ?? I'm fairly sure that the it is the Mini-Meg that is used in the film as it seems to have the same dimensions as this one in the right of the picture http://www.RebreatherWorld.Com/gallery//displayimage.php?imageid=90. The one in the left of the picture is the standard size Meg. Anyway have fun when you get your Meg, I'm sure you're counting the days & hours just the same as I was! You won't be dissappointed! Neil

(about 2 inches shorter than the standard).. Leon will sell one (but hey hope you have lots of Pennies)... As for the movie I thought it was pretty cool. Julie

![]() | Hi, Yes, the movie Meg scrubber size is between the mini and regular. In the movie we used the extend-air cartridges during the studio shooting in Romania but for real cave diving shots in Mexico we switched to pour in Sofnolime. The extend-air cartridge requires a simple adapter. There were 11 Megs "employed" in The Cave movie and they performed flawlessly - In chlorine and epoxy rich water in the Romanian studios as well as in the humid Yucatan jungle and under all the tremendous stress of Hollywood movie shoot. Good luck with your new Meg! Cheers, Jitka (one of The Cave Movie Stunt Double Meg Divers) |

| Who loves ya, baby ![]() ![]() Current Rebreather/s: | Jonny, the idea behind using the cartridges during the studio portion of the movie was the exceptional ease of handling. It allowed for much quicker absorbant changes than granules, and you don't want to be the guy tapping his cannister with the clock ticking and dozens of people waiting. On the set time is money. This picture of different cannister inserts on ISC's website shows from left to right the ISC Mini Meg scrubber, the standard ISC Meg scrubber, the Cis-Lunar stack, the Micropore canister and the (old 5.4 lbs) SMI PRISM basket. Gives an idea about the size. ![]()

| Johnny The Hatch ![]() Current Rebreather/s: | yes but i was just wondering if i am able to use these cannisters with the meg. I have seen the picture before, does it mean i can use a prism cannister with the meg? Or an extend air? I know i can use the Cis... but at a cost of 2500USD not now thanks ![]() /JOnny |

| Despotic Overlord ![]() ![]() Current Rebreather/s: | Yup Leon makes an adapter for the standard MEg to enable you to use Extend Air cartridges if you want one. Which reminds me I was goign to start another thread on them as Chris and Alex really seem to rate them now. Stuart |

| Who loves ya, baby ![]() ![]() Current Rebreather/s: | From what I understand one of the PRISM divers in Western Australia also has a Meg and managed to use the PRISM basket in it. Luke would probably know. Don't know where the one in the picture came from, the old 5.4 lbs buckets were replaced by the currrent 6 lbs buckets a few years ago. There was a company in Mexico fiddling with a dorsal CCR that was based around the old PRISM cannister. I believe they had molds for the old cannister for their unit. Haven't heard or seen anything about the Nautilus in quite a while, though.

We sponsored the premier opening of the movie 'THE CAVE' a month ago in Edmonton and hopefully it spark interest into the CCR field. Half of the audience were divers (go figure). I wish I had a CCR unit I could have displayed at the booth we had near the entrance door of the theatre. The movie ended with a cliff hangar so there might be a CAVE II coming up in the near future.
