Re: Coating cannister with pickup truck bed liner

Thanks for the information.

It may look bad but if i cant cover it then I will not be bothered removing the paint. If it looks bad it looks bad...

Yes. SS clamps on top of the neoprene to the frame. I had intention of never removing the tanks from the frame. Filling them on the frame etc...

I was once told that if the paint is chipped, that will allow for water/salt to become trapped between the tank and the paint and allow corrosion to begin. Thus I always use a "pretty" tank or have it polished to remove the paint entirely.

Take this for what it is - Hearsay from another person, but it makes sense to me.

Re: Coating cannister with pickup truck bed liner

That would seem logical. But the paint is not chipped. It has a second layer that is a crappy paintjob.

Here O2 cylinders have to be blue to get filled. So they just sprayed the same paint as they spray naked steel cylinders (medical type not for diving) on top of the yellow paint on my AL cylinder. And half of it flaked off already. But the yellow is still in tact.

I think that I will keep the neoprene sleaves permenantly on untill i see any corrosion. Then I can find anohter method.

if you have a base layer of paint that is intact it should be fine, I thought that the bare metal was showing underneath the paint. Just watch out for corosion and rinse it with fresh water everytime.
