LMAO. You just think it's stylish. Aren't the wet ones a bit saggy after the dive?

Might be time to think about a pee valve.
Actually...I have a pee valve on my suit...and I hate it. There is nothing worse than fumbling around on a rocking boat trying to fit a sticky condom onto my enormous penis. Frankly I'd rather pull out all of my pubic hair using tweezers. If I take up the porn profession and start waxing again, I'll consider switching back to a pee valve.

The wet diapers are a bit saggy, but there is nothing more fun than chasing my fellow divers around with a wet diaper in hand.

You can't poop into a pee valve.

I hope you have a self-opening zipper system on your suit, or I pity the person who zips your suit off...

LOL. That paints a pretty amusing picture.

I have a quick connect fitting attached to mine. I can install the important part at home, and still use the… er...apparatus as nec. Just the opposite when done diving, and the item stays put until home for removal.

Don't get started with the Pro/Con Ankle weight debate. Everyone is different in how they prefer to distribute their weights and there are too many variables to list. New dry divers should start with them, and experiment once they are comfortable. Personally, I've done around 250 dry dives and like to use a set of elastic 1lb ankle weights.

As for the amount of "Extra" weight you need diving dry: With my OC setup I use about 10lbs in Tropical with 3mm wet suit. Diving dry in cold water I use 24lbs. I have not take my Sport Kiss on a tropical / wet suit dive yet, but imagine the difference will be similar.
I am pretty confident that no one need ankle weights. It is more a matter of learning the right tecnique and getting the weights in the correct place on the unit or belt.

I have also done a few drysuit dives

Absolutely agreed. If you have a good tecnique you don't need ankle weights.
Best

It's so encouraging that there are experts available that have absolute answers to every dive related question. I'm sure you've done extensive studies of every possible body type, equipment configuration, undergarment thinkness, fin bouyancy, etc that allow you to make this pronouncement with such certainty.

And since the topic was for a first time dry suit user, I am pretty sure that it takes some experience to develop that "good tecnique" that you speak of.

I'll go shoot off a note to my 6'5" buddy that also wears a set of ankle weights above his knees to keep his freakishly long legs from floating and tell him he's doing it all wrong.

He is a freak...and shouldn't be diving. Tell him to use OTH (Over The Head) counterlungs.

Re: Diving Dry

Or ATACL (around the ankle counterlungs)

But for sure you do not need ankle weights, you just have to trim and move some other weights on your config. But if you love yours, you can use them, this is a Free World.

Re: Diving Dry

Well, wish me luck. Off to the dive boat for another ocean adventure. I will not be taking my ankle weights this time. I didn't use them last time anyway.

I have a new neck seal and hopefully I will stay dry this time

New p-valve, this ought to be fun

More on the cathedar on my next post
