![]() ![]() ![]() | Re: Rebreather database for Rebreather World? Ratings are very difficult to collect, I might like my KISS and therefore I'll give it 5 outta 5 for everything, Megs are Evil (allegdedly) so all I need to do is put one on my list (which is unchecked) and give it 0 for everything...(IMVHO) Hi BenI am aware of this problem. It is hard to stop if someone wants to alter the ratings, but it works on other websites I seen. People tend not to bother doing this if it's a hassle (that's why you must have it on your rebreatherlist to rate). Another way to avoid this is to list which usernames that has rated the Rebreather. This could keep some users from giving incorrect information. /Christian

![]() ![]() ![]() | Re: Rebreather database for Rebreather World? Why limit this to rebreathers? I would like to see datasheets, reviews, impressions, etc. regarding lots of different rebreather oriented hardware and software. I agree with you 100% but i think that the solution i proposed is meant for rebreathers to start with. If you add the rest of the rebreather hardware avaliable, I think the database programmer will give up before he/she get started. The other task seems reachable IMO. /Christian

| Who loves ya, baby ![]() ![]() Current Rebreather/s: | Re: Rebreather database for Rebreather World? Kind of like wikipedia for rebreathers!! That would be most helpful. Al We tried that early last year: SCUPEDIA IS LIVE!Not too many takers yet, only 150odd entries last time I checked. ![]() Also tried to get data from manufacturers, pita they're to deal with. Send a bunch of mails, almost no replies. Was meant for a Rebreather comparison sheet, just comparing specs, features, options etc, side by side. Was hoping to get some additional data, like weight and size without tanks/disassembled. Nothing proprietary, still, bugger all from that lot. ![]()

Was meant for a Rebreather comparison Gotta say the best method to accomplish this is getting a few people dedicated to the pursuit to gather the necessary info (start with spec sheets supplied by the manufacturer and then go out to users) and then compile it. There will be some holes but people will chime in once they can see the comparison sheets.sheet, just comparing specs, features, options etc, side by side. Was hoping to get some additional data, like weight and size without tanks/disassembled. Nothing proprietary, still, bugger all from that lot. ![]() Updating will be a bit more hassle as you'll have to answer two questions rather than one: 1. What new options are there? 2. Which old options need to be deleted or modified? |

If anyone wants to give it a try I'm all for it. The idea still bears merit, more so when implemented in a flexible data base.

Maybe if we did a wiki tied in to the forum system here on Rebreather World just about RBs and accessories it would be easier? Though it would have to be factual only otherwise it would be a nightmare with different opinions etc - which is great for the forums but the wiki I think we would need to stick to the facts.

But I guess it is all up to the Rebreather World staff if they want such a database in the forum? /Christian

The rebreather community ought to get better and better at answering those questions over time, but it doesn't: it gets worse. Nobody wants to get involved in a banal argument about which is the best rebreather. It's particularly odd that there is not a single article in the library helping people to make this difficult choice. I wish there was one, written by somebody with experience with a number of different units. Anyone? |

You could add the articles already written on the different units!/Christian
