Re: CCR good points

For the diving i do there is no other way I could afford to do it. Doing deep trimix dives for £15 in lime and gas has opened up the sea bed for my perusal. In the old days i would have to think hard before booking a 70m dive and filling up with £180 worth of gas.

CCR has totally changed my mind set. Cost is not relevant, depth is not relevant, gas reserves are barley relevant, my greatest fear of getting trapped down there is minimized by having massive time advantages, Dives durations are based totally on how long i want to be in the water, logistics of gas fills and prep are a breeze. Warm moist gas is a bonus.

All in all the advantages are huge

When I pack in deep diving I planed to go back to the simple life of OC.
Reading my own list of advantages of CCR I think I am kidding my self

Ahhhhhhh, the greatest thing about rebreather diving is not having to go to the dive shop. Can't remember the last time I had to visit my local dive "professional" for anything. A few bottles of O2 & He in the garage, a few buckets o' sorb & I'm good for months.

Aaah, the joy of NOT going to the local dive shop for anything.

And I've just done 3 weeks diving with an OC buddy. I'd forgotten the limitations of the SPG and the fact that my no deco limits are so far away! It felt like they weren't even on the horizon. I took no joy at all in pointing out that 18m is effectively a no stop, no deco dive on an Rebreather!
