![]() | Sofnolime versus sodasorb The price of Sodasorb 6-12 is very competitive compared to Sofnolime 8-12. Does anyone have any experience of the Sodasorb especially compared to Sofnolime? Claudio |

| Submerge Productions Current Rebreather/s: | Re: Sofnolime versus sodasorb I've used both and like already mentioned Sodasorb is a lot more dusty. According to some study (US Navy I believe), sodasorb can absorb around 10% more CO2. It is also cheaper. I've used it for a couple of months without problems. |

There are several other threads comparing sorbs that you can find with the help of the search function. John |

I thaught i rememberd the Inspo Manual saying its OK to use Sodasorb but only if you reduce the scrubber duration by 25% Or was that Sperasorb??? i cant remember. Id like to try a large granual sorb in the KISS to see if it improves the WOB significantly. ATB Mark Chase

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | I can't coment on Sodasorb having only used Spherosorb and Sofnalime, but I'm currnetly using Sofnalime 1-2.5mm stuff and I find that filling my scrubber in a slight breeze helps to reduce the dust content (of which there is little) as its blown away, not disimilar to chaff when seperating it from corn the old fashioned way. Of course this doesn't help you if you haven't got a breeze.... Dave C |

I am sorry that we don't have much of interest but thanks again for giving me something else to focus on for a couple of hours. I just added the new papers and they can be found here.

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Re: Sofnolime versus sodasorb I've used both sodasorb and safnolime pretty extensively with the vision/temp stick. the burn seems to be pretty steady and comperable for both, if you buy that temperature corelates to reactant front. Sodasorb is more dusty, but a non-issue with the nice scrims that come with the EVO...the dust does not make it past the scrim into the head. On my Copis, on the other hand, the scrim is a wire screen and some of the dust does make it into the head, which does not bode so well with the molex connectors. In fact i'm considering adding cloth scrims to the copis but reluctant to do anything that might effect the flow dynamic/WOB. The extensive cost difference, and lack of apparent difference in duration or quality except for dustyness has me generally favoring Sodasorb. When flying though, i've found it helpful to take some of each since the safnolime comes in half kegs and can be divied to "top off" luggage to reduce overage charges. One and a half kegs seems to work well for getting in under the current weight limits here. It's helpful since breaking the seal and trans filling sorb is likely to get you a hastle with Customs.
