Re: Think piece: Nitrox vs. Rebreather dive planning

As a side note:
Whenever I dive with OC guys I switch my VR (backup to my Vision) to OC and the gas that the OC diver is using.

We had a couple of surprises where the OCers ended up with over 25 minutes of deco and the CCRs had nothing.

A Nitrox diver chooses 32% O2 to dive at 100 ft (30m). His buddy, a rebreather diver, chooses a set point of 1.3 for the same dive. How will the two divers' plans differ, and will there be a difference in their time limits? Will their recommended surface interval and 2nd dive time (to the same depth) differ?
This is pretty basic stuff. You should be able to do this on a set of tables.

40 min bottom time -- nitrox diver has 10 min of stop time CCR guy has none.

OC guy should change to EAN 36 and drop his time.

This is all stuff you should have had in BOTH your Advanced Nitrox Course AND your basic CCR Course.

The real question is will the OC guy have enough gas with him for all the dives they will do that day ?

Cheers

whenevber i dive with OC guys I get out the water before them and drink all the beer and chomp all the food. They get to enjoy the 'chicken bone' rain coming down...I think it helps them enjoy the long hangs more knowing Im up there in the sun eating all the hot food drinking all the beer Occasionally ill even treat them to a sorb change shower if Im feeling generous

Another fun ganme is to go diver fishing. What you need is a reel a nice cold can of beer and a lead weight - dangle just in front of decoing divers, raising up and down slowly infront of them.

Think piece Mike: If one of the decoing OC divers goes for the bait, when he hits the surface and cracks the can which fizzes first and/or more, the diver or the beer?
