Re: Are Apeks DS4's good for 100m+ ?

How deep do you want to go? Apeks regs have been at least 180m to my knowledge and they are the best on the market [cue bunfight].

I have numerous Apeks sets from TX40/DST4 to ATX100's and an Egress.

I think that the newer XTX first stages have done away with the 1/2" port. I carry a set of sleeve up/down adaptors in my toolbox because of the odd size of the DS[T] port.

Is everyone aware of the recall on A clamp first stages?

Re: Are Apeks DS4's good for 100m+ ?

XTX50 is rated 200m as is the XTX200 IIRC.

Used DSTs and DS4's >100m fine.

Yes you are correct .On the Apeks Marine homepage under downloads are the test certificates for 200m under Norsok . But that is a DST with a XTX50 not for a DS4

All membrane first stages with an antifreeze cap will boost the IP gradually as you go deeper. If the DS4 is set to 9.5 bar IP over ambient then the IP will be approx 10.5 bar over ambient at 50 m, 11.5 bar at 100 m and 12.5 bar at 150 m. Maybe you remember the old adverts going something like "Our reg gets easier to breath from at depth". Not sure if that was Apex or someone else, but basically it is true until you reach the depth where the IP exeed the cracking tension of the 2nd stage spring and it free flows.

There are three cures:
1 Remove the antifreeze cap or cut a hole in it.
2 Fill the chamber with Vodka.
3 Adjust the first stage IP so that it gives 9.5 bar including boost at planned max depth.

As I thought all of the above felt a bit messy, I elected to use membrane regs without environmental seals for the Pelagian DCCCR.

Andy

4. Wind in the cracking adjustment knob as you go deeper

Re: Are Apeks DS4's good for 100m+ ?

102 OC on two DST's TX50 main reg TX40 back up and three DS4s.

105 CCR with three DS4s on my bailout gas

Seemd OK to me. No free flows on the DS4 TX40 deco regs but i always set the deco regs to - and switch over to + once in the old gob.
