Using ultrasound is interesting - I wonder if it would work in a condensing environment? Imagining a Rebreather which has 3 cyls O2, air, heliox, and runs at constant PO2, and constant END! Would enable a gradual controlled switch fro He to N2.
i used this analyser in a couple of test and found it spot on for both o2 and helium, and some of the extra features were an added bonus,
i was going into talks with them about using there technology in one of our projects.
kind regards john

It would depend on what you are doing. I use a ATOMX as it does a continuos sampling, great for real time mixing in a blending system. It's a crapper for field use as it requires a heat up of 5 mins.

Most of the faster units use a capture analyze chamber.

Re: Which Helium Analyser to Buy

Anyone have any more detailed info on the DiveSoft unit?

The info at the website is cursory. For example:
1) does it also measure O2 content ultrasonically (not just He)?
2) if not, what kind of cell does it use? (ie consumables)
3) does the unit need periodic calibration?
4) batteries?

etc, etc in a geeky vein.

Dan, read the manual (available as PDF from their website) for more information, seems it has a normal R-22 O2 cell inside, there is also a reccomended calibration routine and I gather it takes a 9V PP3.

Bought a TecCheck a few months ago and recently gave it quite a workout when setting up various new stage tanks. Was very pleased.

Based on their product list, it looks like an R17D. Nice, as my elcheapo uses one. Now, when is Christmas???

Cheers,

Re: Which Helium Analyser to Buy

I have the Analox. Very easy to use for 02 and he. Seems to work fine after two years of ownership. Standard flow restrictor wasts very little gas during analisis.

I am very happy with it and amazingly havent managed to break it yet.

Duh! Missed the pdf. Thanks!

Looks interesting. I wonder about the choice to use an O2 sensor.
Could be the math for determining O2 ultrasonically was too intensive?

Coz, I'm sure I'm not the only one who would buy a gas analyzer
that doesn't need consumables . . .

Re: Which Helium Analyser to Buy

I have an Analox ATA for 3 years and have not had any
trouble. It is reliable and easy to use.
Only problem is I cannot find a replacement oxygen
& helium sensors in the US.
