Hi Barrie!

I will have my meg with me. I can arrange you some tanks and the sofnolime - no bid deal. If you like to take your OC stuff doubles / stage tanks and lamps are no problem! I have some good connections there....

The rest you need your own. You can bring up to 2x23kg and 1 x 8kg to the US.

Just let me know if i can help you!

Best regards

Horst

P.S.: Thanks got my sofnolime very quick!

quote=Barrie Law;127127]Some diving after DEMA sounds like a plan and I would be interested in some relaxing stuff maybe even have a look at some caves Horst.

I think gear may be a problem for us European visitors unless we pallet ship all our kit before hand??

Or even hire some O/C gear...
[/quote]

Hi Horst,

Thanks for the offer to share some of your kit I appreciate it although the O/C diving comment was a bit tongue in cheek...

I am sure we can get something sorted with the diving.

PS; Good to hear the Sorb arrived OK.

Yes, diving off the cats is quite nice. If my memory is correct, there were 10 or 12 of us CCR divers and a few OC divers doing the Hydro off one of the cats last year after dema. SFDH is quite CCR friendly when you fill their boat for a week straight.

Re: Diving after DEMA

If they can dive wet suits in CA then it's always wetsuit season in FL. Might be 7mm wet suit .... My guess is that water temps might be high 60's on surface and 10 degrees cooler at the bottom - for the Oriskany in early Nov.

My suggestion to ensure a better chance of diving is to go to south east florida (west palm to key largo area). Could still have a windy day but since there is so much more diving there and closer to shore than the Oriskany, better chance of pulling off a couple days underwater. It's not the O but water will be warmer and guess viz will be better too... my $.02.

Patti, I've got you covered on tanks (meg and bailout) as well as sorb.

That's a long day on the boat and long drive for people, if they are already coming from Orlando and staying in the Lauderdale area. It would be much more enjoyable to do shorter boat rides and more diving for the visitors.

Yep, and sounds like Ted has some trips going that may be fun if he has room as well. I'm not trimix, so I cannot do the hydro yet, but the other dives, I may be game.
I was supposed to do it with Benson in Michigan next month, but he's too busy ripping off insurance companies or something bastard

Re: Diving after DEMA

We tend to start shallower 80'ish and work progressively deeper with Hydro & RBJ Thursday and Friday.

Re: Diving after DEMA

I just remembered that the "Invade the Keys with Matt" trip is following Dema on Nov. 5th & 6th with Conch Republic. It would be great to get a large group down there to support such great effort.

I will likely have a group diving out of Pompano Beach with South Florida Diving Headquarters. We will be there atleast Monday through Friday after Dema diving the usual stuff down to and including the Hydro Atlantic and the RBJ. Most of the group will be CCR with some doing advanced training. Trimix, O2, and kitty litter will be available.

Re: Diving after DEMA

Sorry for just getting in on this now. I have been away on a dive trip, and I just returned last night. Rob, thanks for volunteering me! I think the appropriate punishment would be for you to have to get the ball rolling.

I was going to go up to Cave Country before DEMA and then head to DEMA on my way back to Miami. However, I can probably swing things either before or after. I have not made any reservations yet.

Personally, I would not be up for making the drive up to dive the Oriskany. Other than the Summer months, it is probably too ify to plan on any other time of the year. Since not everyone can do the cave diving thing, it starts to sound like an east coast trip would be in the works.

Re: Diving after DEMA

Just for your information, last year I got blown out on the Oriskany 4 different times from late October through March. I never did make it out. Most of the boats seem to cancel if it even looks like it is going to be bad weather. It is quite a ways out there, and they don't want to deal with the rough water. I think the summer months are your best bet.
