| S21 M.I.B. ![]() ![]() Current Rebreather/s: | Hi all, I thought deeper stops and slower ascent rate were the current and accepted trend amongst technical divers. So I was quite surprised to see some posts on another forum and some technical divers I discussed with, stating that they didn't agree with the "deeper stops" philosophy. So let's discuss about it: please give us your opinion and your current practice. Cheers

![]() ![]() ![]() | RGBM - I like to leave the wreck and make a slow ascent to the first stop, and then I let time expire and slowly move up to the next stop. I try to keep a slow continuis ascent without violating any deco Ceilings. For Example, I did a dive to 250' and the first stop was 170' by the time I arived at 170 my deco had moved to 150' and I stoped there. I feel so much better when I do deep stops, and move slowly between stops with lots of breaths. |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | my practice has been a 1 or 2 minute stop around 65-70 feet above my bottom depth. For example 300' (10)--> 230(2)--> 160(2)--> then the required deco. I program it into VPM and let the profile reflect the stops. Seems to work for me,(I'm still here and I can stand up straight) Andy |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | I am the same as Deepwreck and Decoweenie, I like to move through the stops and arrive just on time to move on again. The 9 and 6m stops tend to be more small jumps. |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | On dives sub 90 metres, using VR3, I will do my deep bubble stops and then ascend very slowly, say 3 metres per minute, the rest of the way, generally clearing, or seriously reducing, look ahead stops, on the way. Cheers, Dave Cooper.

Cheers, Dave Cooper. What he said for pretty much all my diving but to clarify for JP I ascend at 3m/min from the wreck to first stop depth unless it’s a 70m+ dive In which case I ascend to my first VR3 stop at 5-10m/min. On most of the diving I have done in that range the VR3 is giving me a stop at around 80% of max depth. However it can then jump very quickly to the shallow stops which I don’t like so I often add intermediate stops my self and use the VR3 to control the 6m final stop. The self made profile is based on my experience using GF's on Decoplanner running 20/80. It seems to work for me. ATB Mark Chase
