I put the tanks and scrubber in the unit. TSA always wants to look inside but I have been luckly so far, they have never insisited the valves be removed.

| Classic KISS No. 226 ![]() Current Rebreather/s: | Re: CCR Travel Case When I last took my KISS to Singapore, I packed it a plastic moving create, 'borrowed' during our last office move. They're about the same size a gear gulper and perfect to the Classic KISS, Backplate, Wing, wetsuit and bits. The great thing about the case is that it's too large for the normal check-in counter scales so the box was checked in at the over sized baggage stand where it wasn't weighted. Next time I travel, that box is going to be rammed Cheers Rich

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Re: CCR Travel Case Injection molded commercial fish-tote with snap on lid. Works a charm. Light (under 3 pounds). Cheap (less than $20 with the top). Rugged (designed to carry 100 pounds of fresh fish to market). Waterproof (great for washing your gear and bubble testing your rig). Stack or nest with others like it. Buy 20 of them: Skips Marine Inc. - Fish Totes I issue one to every diver aboard EXPLORER, and if I like you, I'll let you keep it. Just keep yer stuff in it and the Captain will not bitch about the diving gear littering the decks. I've used them for years for carrying my stuff on the airlines too. I tie-wrap the top on thru the handles, and leave a few extra tie-wraps and a note on top of the gear, asking security to re tie-wrap after any inspection. So far they have always done this. Dave

![]() ![]() | Re: CCR Travel Case And it was a good thought... My father has used a golf bag for his dive gear since he started diving. His main reason being...golf clubs are alot less likely to be stolen, than dive gear, at a dive destination. He has been all over the world with those "clubs"! Many of us have talked the same thing in the past, but no one had the "cajonas" to actually try it. Since you have rather large "round spheres", I volunteer you to try and report back... ![]()

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Re: CCR Travel Case Dave, This looks like what I am after and you'll let me keep it if I go dive with you...... Now how far is it from Cairns Australia to...Narragansett, New Jersey Lance LONG way, since Narragansett is in Rhode Island... Summer Quarters aboard EXPLORER in Rhode Island. Winter Quarters at the Little Diveshop of Horrors in New Jersey. I can FEDEX the totes worldwide if you need them, and get a 85% discount ion FEDEX so it's not as costly as you might imagine. They stack well so a few can be tie-wrapped into one parcel with a lid on top. Just give the word! Or just come diving and you'll (A) get a prize for longest commute to the dive boat, and (B) will get that prize in any number of totes that you are willing to carry home. I bet that there are similar products in Oz, and even bet that they are physically interchangable. I've seen these totes all over the world where commercial fishermen work. Just look for a bunch of well fed cats, follow them to the scuzziest dock in town, and look for the commercial fishing supply place. Dave .

| Closed Circuit Divers Aus Current Rebreather/s: | Re: CCR Travel Case I have just finished work on my new CCR travel case and thought I'd show you what I finally decided on. Thanks to all who wrote in and told me what they were using and a special thanks to Dave Sutton....You'll see my final choice closely resembles your Fish Tote. travel case 001.jpg I guess at a first glance it looks like any other Stanley Ute Tool Box....But look a bit closer. travel case 002.jpg travel case 003.jpg travel case 004.jpg I had an old TUSA dive gear bag which I had worn out, had holes everywhere, and I just couldn't bring myself to throw it out.....Or any thing else at that!! It had a good pair of wheels and a telescoping handle and it didn't take long to put two and two together. Before long I had reverse engineered the old bag and had the materials to transform my tool box into a CCR travel case. All up it took around 2 1/2 hours and all up weighs in a around 6 1/2 kgs. So now I am all set to pack the Meg away for my training trip with Matt in Thailand. See you soon Matt. Thanks again everyone for your tips and pictures. Regards, Lance

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Re: CCR Travel Case Nice case, now to test it, put stuff in it that you really don't care about, ship it to a friend to some far off place via UPS, then have that friend to ship it back, also via UPS. If it makes it in one piece, then you have one heck of a case. ![]()
